A Chinese porcelain tea bowl, with underglaze blue decoration, bears Hatcher Collection Christie's June '84 label, four similar items, two saucers with Christie's The Nanking Cargo labels, two earthenware vases, and other Oriental ceramics (qty) Condition report Report by NG Two Hatcher Collection tea bowls with underglaze blue decoration. One with small nibble to rim, other with pitting. Some chips and cracks. Long de chine tea bowl, with Hatcher Collection label, with several firing cracks to rim, and also chipped. The largest of two remaining bowls approx. 12 cm diameter, with pitting, rubbing and small chips to rim, crazed and scratched and glaze faults. Other bowl with some pitting. Two saucers both with chips to rim. Two earthenware vases, complete but with production faults. Blue and white vase 11.5 cm high, with Hatcher Collection to base. Crazed, black marks in glaze, top unglazed, pitting and pox marks. Figure with some unglazed areas and several firing cracks.
A rare Italian porcelain coffee cup and saucer, c.1780, by Giacomo Boselli of Savona, boldly painted with Chinese figures in garden settings beside latticed fences, the moulded handle glazed green, signed `Jacques Boselly` to the underside, 13cm. (2) Giacomo Boselli is better known for the production and decoration of faïence and creamware, but few examples of his porcelain are known. Cf. Woolley and Wallis, 12th October 2010, lot 530 for a sugar bowl and cover with the same signature.
