Lot 109

This lot includes an exquisite bright blue and case colored perfectly and expensively restored Colt Model 1877 “Lightning” .38 Colt Center Fire Caliber Double Action Six Shot Revolver with desirable 3 ½” ejector less barrel, #89546, made 1893. Many of the 1877s were made with longer barrels and with the ejector mounted on the side of the barrel like on the famed Colt Single Action Army Revolver. The scarce ejector less models, often called “Sheriff Models” were for pocket as well as belt carry and were considered serious deadly weapons. This early example made during the Frontier Years is now in superb condition with beautiful, bright Colt blue remaining on all the appropriate parts- barrel, grip straps, cylinder and trigger guard. The back of the hammer, trigger and screws display a glowing fire blue appearance while the frame shows vivid Colt case colors! All markings on the barrel and frame are sharp and distinct. There is what appears to be a tiny “&” stamping on the right rear side of the trigger guard which usually means a re-work or refinish by the Colt Factory. This gorgeous revolver also retains the original unaltered front sight, beautiful screws and excellent mechanics- this is very unusual as most examples of this desirable Colt Six Shooter have internal mechanisms that no longer function properly. The bore is also bright and excellent. Sharply checkered hard rubber grips with the famed “Rampant Colt” in an oval embossed at the top fit perfectly. This revolver is especially scarce and desirable with blue finish as most were nickel plated. A favored revolver of both Billy the Kid and Texas gunfighter John Wesley Hardin, this example would be right at home in the finest Old West, Frontier or Colt collection. A Superb Model 1877 with especially scarce and desirable features that has the appearance of exactly how this revolver looked in a showroom in 1893. This firearm qualifies as an Antique, and does not require FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check.

This military rifle developed from 1882 to 1891 and used by the armed forces of the Russian Empire, the Soviet Union and various other nations. As a result, the rifle was adopted as the standard Finnish Army weapon, and surplus Mosin–Nagants were purchased from other European nations which had captured them during World War I. These rifles were overhauled to meet Finnish Army standards and designated M/91. The M/91 was the most widely issued Finnish rifle in both the Winter War and the Continuation War. This rifle shows very good condition for its age with original cosmoline. The rifle also comes with a bayonet, cleaning rod and shows some handling wear. The mechanics are tight and smooth. Serial Number: 9130869121. This firearm qualifies as a Curio & Relic, and requires FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check.

(Sold GBP 55.000) - The scene shows Mu Guiying and seven others of the Yang widows preparing for battle, overseen by family matriarch She Taijun. The story comes from tales of the Yang dan in the early Northern Song Dynasty. General Yang Ye was a great warrior who defended the Middle Kingdom against attacks from the Khitan forces of the Liao Dynasty. In a collection of stories known as Yang Jia Jiang (General of the Yang clan) Yang Ye famously defended the Yanmen Pass in the Great Wall, becoming a favorite of the Emperor. This led to jealousy from the other generals who abandoned him on the battlefield and he was captured and killed. Yang Ye had eight sons, all great warriors and they successfully kept the Khitan forces at bay. This took its toll and eventually the last of the Yang generals was killed as the enemy forces closed in. As such, it was left to the widows of the sons of Yang Ye, spurred on by his wife She Taijun, and led by her grand-daughter, Mu Guiying, widow of Yang Zonghao, to defend the Dynasty. They defeated the Khitan forces and then took charge of the emperor's army defeating a new threat from the Tangut forces of the Western Xia, saving the dynasty.

An armorial Sevres porcelain cup and saucer with the arms of von Linsingen, France, 1st half 19th C.Dia.: 17,5 cm (the saucer)L.: 15 cm - H.: 9,5 cm (the cup)Ê Ernst von Linsingen (born July 21, 1775 in Adenstedt, died June 21, 1853 in Hanover) was a cavalry general of the Kingdom of Hanover. In 1795 he joined the Queen's 9th Light Dragoon Regiment as a cadet, commanded by the Duke of Cumberland and later King Ernst August. As a secondary lieutenant, he fought in 1793/95 in the Netherlands. With the dissolution of the Electoral Hanoverian Army in 1803 due to the Artlenburg Convention, he immediately became enthusiastic about the idea of the King's German Legion and was initially a captain in the 1st Light Dragoon Regiment, later in the 1st Hussar Regiment, where he participated in the fights in the Iberian Peninsula. In 1811 he became a staff officer as Brigade Adjudant and was deployed in north-west Germany from 1813 under the Duke of Cambridge, with whom he had been on friendly terms since his youth.Ê Von Linsingen organized the cavalry units to be re-established in the course of the liberation wars, from which the new cavalry troops of the Kingdom of Hanover later emerged and rose continuously in the Hanoverian military hierarchy. King Ernst August appointed him adjudant general and head of the kingdom's military affairs in 1837. In 1845 he was reassigned to active service as commander of the 1st Cavalry Division and retired in 1848 due to health problems.Ê His diaries, letters and records formed an important basis for the history of the King's German Legion, written by the Irish military historian North Ludlow Beamish (1797–1872).Ê His ex libris may have served as a source for the design on the cup and saucer.
