1972 Land Rover 88 SIII Lightweight"Make: Land RoverModel: 88"Year: 1972Mileage: 37800VIN: 95100073AConfiguration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: PHJ481KTransmission: manualThe British Army - and others, across the globe - was a big user of Land Rovers, and this 1972 Series III Lightweight went into military service when new. Lightweights had considerable modifications compared to standard Landies, with parts removed to save weight and many body components easily removeable should even more pounds need to be shed. This 2286cc machine served with the Grenadier Guards from 1972 to 1976, then the Scots Guards until 1979 and the Coldstream Guards during 1984, before entering Civvy Street in 1985, according to the photocopy of the military history card that comes with it. There's also a copy of the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, showing its dispatch to the Central Army Vehicle Depot in Ashchurch in May 1972. The vendor acquired the vehicle in 2017. Recent jobs include a new starter motor and battery fitted in January this year, plus half-shafts replaced and a rear bench seat fitted during 2018. There are invoices for these jobs in the (somewhat lightweight) history folder. The odometer shows 37,800 although this is unwarranted. However, Land Rovers often covered comparatively few miles in military service compared to their civilian counterparts. For anybody wishing to show off the Lightweight at shows, it is now fitted again with lots of military equipment, such as a patrol radio, front-mounted antennas, flag mast and Grenadier Guards convoy badge, plus other bits and pieces. There's also a spare set of keys and a Series III Lightweight user manual. PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR VIDEO PRODUCED 29TH JULY BY ACA OF THIS CAR.

1995 Esarco 6x6Make: Esarco Model: 6x6Year: 1995Mileage: 0VIN: CWNR8891Configuration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: Q614HVFTransmission: manualFrom the collection of the late Mike Crowe. 3,528cc. The Esarco was developed by Major Michael Somerton-Rayner as a private initiative in response to lessons learned by the British Army during the 1982 Falklands conflict for the need for lightweight high mobility load carriage. Initially produced as an 8x8 model using simple construction, the design utilised off the shelf Land Rover components to produce a range of high mobility vehicles. This example, a 6x6 version, was essentially a smaller and lighter derivative. Fitted with a Rover V8 engine, it does start and drive in gear but it is thought the clutch hydraulics require attention. Will require some recommissioning work before use. Registered with the DVLA in 1995 as an Agricultural Machine. Two registered owners, the last recorded since 2002. Mileage recorded at 51,918.

Medieval Heraldic Mount Circa, 14th century AD. Copper-alloy, 13.4 g, 40 mm. A round mount displaying the arms of Thomas de Beauchamp, 11th Earl or Warwick. Gules, a fesse between six crosses crosslet or. Found during construction of the Tewkesbury Hills golf course in 1975.Thomas de Beauchamp, 11th Earl of Warwick, (c. 14 February 1313 – 13 November 1369), sometimes styled as Lord Warwick, he was an English nobleman and military commander during the Hundred Years War. His reputation as a military leader was so formidable that he was nicknamed 'the devil Warwick' by the French. In 1348 he became one of the founders and the third Knight of the Order of the Garter. Thomas was undoubtedly a brave warrior in battle and proved to be a strong military leader. For example, the 14th century Anonimalle Chronicle states that when news arrived of his landing at Calais, the Duke of Burgundy, whose forces were camped nearby, made a hasty retreat under cover of darkness to avoid an encounter with 'the devil Warwick'. He also fought in Scotland as Captain of the army against the Scots in 1337 at the age of 24.

A WW1 medal trio together with a Distinguished Conduct Medal and Croix de Guerre avec Palme, to 516 Lieutenant Frederick Joseph Evans, 9th Platoon, 7th Battalion East Surrey Regiment / Royal West Kent Regiment, the DCM engraved '516 Cpl F.J. Evans 7/E Surr: Regt.' the Croix de Guerre with bronze palm unmarked as issued, the 14/15 star engraved 'G7 - 516 L. CPL. F.J. Evans E. Surr.R.', the British War medal engraved '2. Lieut F.J. Evans', the Victory medal engraved '2 Lieut F.J. Evans', presented in their original packaging (5)Provenance: By direct descent from the recipientFootnote: The Distinguished Conduct Medal (DCM) is the oldest British award for gallantry and was awarded to Warrant Officers, Non-Commissioned Officers and men of the British Army for 'distinguished, gallant and good conduct in the field'. It was the second-highest award for gallantry in action after the Victoria Cross for the ranks below that of a commissioned officer. The Croix de Guerre was a French military decoration, but was also commonly awarded to foreign military forces allied to France who distinguished themselves by acts of heroism involving combat with the enemy and who had been 'mentioned in dispatches'. The ribbon devices indicate the importance or degree of the soldier's role during the action cited. The lowest degree is represented by a bronze star and the highest degree is represented by a bronze palm, as with this example. Frederick J. Evans joined the East Surrey Regiment in 1914. While there, he was promoted to Lance Corporal and then to Corporal. He moved to the Training Reserve Rifle Brigade, (number TR/13/80433), where he was promoted to Sergeant. He later transferred to the Royal West Kent Regiment as second Lieutenant and was subsequently promoted to Lieutenant, leaving the service in 1920. He was related (possibly uncle) to Sidney S. Evans (See lot 349) Cpl. Evans was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal (DCM) in January 1916 for his part in an attack on a German gun trench on October 13th 1915, resulting in the destruction of the trench, the capture of 16 prisoners, a machine gun and three trench mortars. His group then successfully repulsed a German counter-attack the following morning. This was the 7th battalion's first fight during which 58 men were killed, 158 were wounded and 33 were reported missing. A total of 1 Distinguished Service order, 2 Military Crosses, 6 Distinguished Conduct Medals and 4 Military Medals were awarded to men involved in the attack, and 3 officers were 'mentioned in dispatches'. General Sir Douglas Haig personally presented Cpl. Evans with the Croix de Guerre avec Palme on November 6th 1915 for 'conspicuous gallantry and good service' following the Gun Trench attack in addition to 'gallantry in patrol work and sniping' over recent months, activities for which he had been mentioned in dispatches.

His clients were of the high nobility and from the so-called ‘Vienna's second society’ (the rising bourgeoisie, industrialists, bankers, civil servants and high-ranking army officers). His business attracted the interest of artists of the Vienna Secession movement and of the Wiener Werkstätte. They commissioned artisans on a freelance basis and Sturm received many commissions from them which were marked with the trademark of the Wiener Werkstätte, the monogram of the designer and Sturm's initials - ‘A.St’ - instead of his usual ‘clover’ stamp as featured on these examples. Wiener Werkstätte closed its doors in 1932 and Sturm's firm closed in 1988, but it was relaunched by George Stradiot in 2008 under the name ‘Wiener Silber Manufactur’. Today their shop is based in the centre of Vienna, and they specialise in reproducing objects designed during the Viennese Jugendstil and Art deco periods and the 1930s, drawing on their archive of over 11,000 designs dating back to Sturm's original drawings of the late 1800s
