PC, (1883-1950) his full title being Archibald Percival Wavell, 1st Earl Wavell (of Eritrea and of Winchester), Viscount Wavell of Cyrenaica and of Winchester, Viscount Keren of Eritrea and of Winchester, a signed United Service Club, Pall Mall, S.W.1, headed sheet of paper, graduating from Sandhurst - Wavell was Commissioned into the British Army in 1901 as Second Lieutenant in the Black Watch, joining the 2nd Battalion in South Africa to fight in the Second Boer War, then fighting through WWI and WWII rising through many ranks. Passing away in 1950 from an abdominal surgery relapse, his body was laid in state at the Tover of London (where he was Constable), with a military funeral along the Thames, first since Horatio Nelson in 1806, later being laid to rest in the mediaeval Cloister at Winchester College

OBE, (1884-1981) signed in blue ink and dated 1946, signed on a Commander-in-Chief in India New Delhi letter head - Auchinleck was a British Army Commander during WWII, spending the majority of his military career in India, he rose to become Commander-in-Chief of India, in 1941 he became Commander-in-Chief of the Middle East Theatre, but after a few early successes the tables turned against Britain and he was relieved of his post in 1942 during the Alamein Campaign, 1943 was once again appointed Commander-in-Chief in India

DSO and Bar, (1883-1963) signed letter head from Cairnton, Banchory, Scotland, signed in ink, dated 11-5-46 - Alanbrooke, Viscount of Brookeborough, was a Senior Officer of the British Army, he was Chief of the Imperial General Staff during WWII, and later promoted to Field Marhal in 1944, as Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff Committee, he was the foremost military advisor to Winston Churchill, and also undertook the role of co-ordinator of the British military efforts in the Allies Victory in 1945, after retiring from the Army he served as Lord High Constable of England during the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953

BROOKLANDS - A 1913 B.M.C.R.C. SILVER MEDAL AWARDED TO W G HOWARD FOR THE 1,000CC 10 MILE RECORD RACE,dated 9th August 1913, hallmarked and in fitted case, with two postcards depicting W G 'Billie' Howard on his competition Matchless Model 6 (with a Model 5 pictured in the background), the second image, believed to be have been taken in Weybridge, shows an outfit on two wheels whilst Billie balances the machine. Also included in the lot is a hand annotated newspaper cutting, dated 5th July 1913, showing Billie pushing Charles Collier at the start of the Colwyn Bay Speed Trial.Born in Walton-on-Thames in 1893, William George 'Billie' Howard worked in his father's undertakers shop but his great love was motorcycles. He joined The Royal Army Service Corps in 1915 riding motorcycles, transferring as a Lieutenant to the Royal Garrison Artillery. He died in 1917 of shrapnel wounds and was buried at The Nine Elms British Cemetery near Ypres. He is forever remembered on the Walton-on-Thames War Memorial.
