Handtartsche mit Wappen der Stadt Schongau, süddeutsch, spätes 15. Jhdt. Stark gewölbter hölzerner Schild mit kräftiger Mittelrippe. Beidseitig mit Pergament bezogen, die Schauseite mit farbiger Fassung auf Kreidegrund. Darstellung des Stadtwappens der Stadt Schongau am Lech. Adler mit nach rechts gewandtem Kopf, auf der Brust der bayerische Rautenschild, die weißen Felder mit Resten alter Blattversilberung. Der rötlich-braune Grund mit ockergelben Punkten strukturiert, zwei umlaufende Randlinien in ockergelber Farbe. Farbauftrag stellenweise berieben. Der Rand teils bestoßen, mit kleinen Fehlstellen im Farbauftrag. An der Rückseite vier eiserne Ösen mit erhaltenen Schildfesseln aus gekordeltem Leder. Maße 82 x 34 cm.Vergleichbare Tartschen und Pavesen aus dem Schongauer Fund sind heute in zahlreichen großen Sammlungen zu finden, so z.B. im Bayerischen Armeemuseum in Ingolstadt (Inv.Nr. A 197), im Kunsthistorischen Museum in Wien (Hofjagd- und Rüstkammer, A 2453) und im Deutschen Historischen Museum in Berlin (Inv.Nr. W757). The reddish-brown background stippled with ochre yellow dots, two continuous border lines in ochre yellow. The paintwork scuffed here and there, the edge knocked in places with minor imperfections in the paint. Four iron loops with preserved shield grips of corded leather on the back. Dimensions 82 x 34 cm.Today, similar shields and pavises from the Schongau site can be found in numerous major collections, such as the Bavarian Army museum in Ingolstadt (inv. no. Gouache, heightened with gilding on paper, the first depicting a standing nobleman in landscape, the second with a seated Mughal Emperor below a verse in script, within terraced landscape, each approx. 13cm x 22cm exc. frame (2)Neither have been inspected out of their frames, both are finely painted. The example with the Emperor, the glass is cracked. There are some very minor areas of discolouration and wear to each painting.Provenance: Property of a local lady. Inherited from her grandparents whose families were part of the British Indian Army in the 1920s. The items were bought back to the UK one their return.

Handwritten to the reverse noting: A scene from the Communist China film 'The Great Unity of Nationalities in China' which will be shown at the International film festival of Indian in Bombay. Military Interest - Framed Telex on the Surrender of Germany During The Second World War. This interesting and unique item is a telex message sent to the US Army liberators at the St Valerie Camp. Captain James Moonie - who used an alias when he was a prisoner of war, Bob Lundie - was captured and marched from Dunkirk to Poland. As the highest ranking prisoner in the camp, he was taken to the US Officer, who gave him the telex, which he kept and brought back to Scotland. He was evacuated from Dunkirk, and survived the ordeal, winning a Bravery Medal. James Moonie lived into his 80's with his family in Scotland. This is the original telex, framed.

Scarce Collection of WWI Medals and Ephemera, relating to the service of two brothers in the British Army, to collection includes: - Military Medal (MM) awarded to 201909 PTE A Platt 2/4 LN LANC R - TR and British War Medal to 4717 PTE A Platt LN LAN R also included are two Gallant Conduct cards, Military Medal card, personal letters (relating to the award of The MM and notification of wounding, official letters, postcards and pay book. Victory Medal awarded to 28279 GNR H Platt RA with personal condolence letter.Harry Platt was from Bolton, and following enlistment with the Royal Field Artillery, he was subsequently killed in action on 30/7/1917, along with two of his comrades by an exploding German shell. On 2/8/1917 his unit Chaplain wrote a letter to his father advising the circumstances of his death. Gunner Platt has no known grave and his name is recorded on The Menin Gate, Ypres Amos Platt like his brother was from Bolton and he opted to join the Territorial Force 2/4 Loyal North Lancashire regiment, He arrived in France 8/2/1917 and was thereafter involved in heavy fighting at the front, on 10/6/1917 at Le Touquet during the battle of Messines his commanding officer recommended him for the Military Medal for 'Gallantry during a raid on the enemy'.He was subsequently awarded this medal on 1/9/1917. In the meantime further gallant conduct had been recognised on 14 and15/8/1917 at L Epinette. During the course of this engagement he was wounded in the right forearm from a bursting German shell. As a casualty he was subsequently evacuated to the UK for medical treatment where he remained until the end of the war and demobiliation on 12/3/1919.
