A GERMAN IMPERIAL COURT SWORD OF EARLY 20TH CENTURY, by the maker J.J.Runkel of Solingen, Germany, the blade is approximately 82 cm in length, with flat top blade bearing the maker marks, also hardly visible is stamped what appears to be 'D.Neff' on the Ricasso, Johan Justus Runkel was born in 1751, but around 1779 he left Germany for London, where he set up his Swords business, importing blades etc from Solingen. Runkel died in 1808, the blade on this sword has been etched with the Geo III Cypher(dating it to 1796-1801) and other Crown & Standard markings along each side of the top third of the blade, the Vendors Grandfather, Dr Ernest Charles BARNES who was a 2nd Lieutenant in the Royal Army Medical Corps in WW1, gave the sword to the vendor when he was a child, Barnes served with distinction in WW1 and with this lot are copied photos of Barnes in Uniform and on Horseback in France, the scabbard is of leather and metal trim design ,but wear and tear over the years has caused the metal tip to break away from the scabbard, but is present, an interesting sword worthy of further research
WWI DEATH PLAQUE AND MEMORIAL SCROLL, named to William Richard Burgin, East Yorkshire Regiment, The plague comes in its cardboard outer sleeve and the memorial scroll is in its posting tube, the tube is addressed to a Mrs A Burgin, Edward Street, the parade in Birmingham, there are no records on CWGC or soldiers who died in the great war (SDGW) but some records exist showing he was discharged from the army in November 1915, this lot is well worthy of further research, also included is a group photograph, a red regular army pay book named to Sidney Bowyer and a cased silver fob with a picture of a soldier on it

VERY NICE WWI AND LATER FAMILY GROUP OF MEDALS, to include a framed WWI pair of medals awarded to Wesley Tucker who was Private 1994 Royal Army Medical Corps and his sons Double GSM (General Service Medals) with LSGC medal who served in the RAF, the GSM's have bars for Cyprus and South Arabia, each medal is correctly name to LAC 4129157 J.R.Tucker RAF, also included is a belt buckle that was picked up during his RAF service days
THREE SWAGGER/PARADE STICKS, to include Royal Army Medical Corps, Repton OTC & Royal West Surrey Regiment, all three sticks are of different ages and the RAMC has got a white metal buckle or band part way down, the Repton OTC cane is in good condition apart from some of the outer coating has split, the black Royal West Surrey Regiment has been polished but the naming on the badge and South Africa are still visible
WWI DISTINGUISHED CONDUCT MEDAL AND 1914-15 TRIO OF MEDALS NORT STAFFORDSHIRE REGT, the medals come complete with the Princess Mary Tin given to Private William J Richards, William served with the North Staffs Regiment and was issue with the service number 2284, this later changed to 240353, the medals are correctly impressed with the 1914-15 star showing Williams army number 2284 and the war, victor and DCM showing his second number 240353, William was born in Tamworth Staffordshire and on the 1911 census he was living at number 11 Ludgate, he was working as a printers errand lad, William landed in France on 04/03/1915 and went on to be awarded the DCM for his bravery in the field and the following extract appeared in the London Gazette on 17th April 1918 ' For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during an enemy attack. He brought up stores and rations to the captured trenches, utterly regardless of personal danger.' Williams brother Francis Richards also served in WWI but he is sadly buried at Tamworth Cemetry after passing away at home in February 1917, but his medals are not amongst these, this is an exceptional set of medals and the DCM is the oldest British award for gallantry and was a second level military decoration, only ranked below the Victoria cross, also included is a copy of a family photograph where William can be seen as the first gentleman from the left

Together with German Trench map centered on Regnieville, Fey etc with German units added by hand and French gun positions shown, together with dense trench systems, dated 1918 in pencil and Feldart Regt no 95. Note is two spliced together and may have been cut down. Two further Trench maps of the Russian Front produced by the German Army c.1916 with trenches shown, 4 in all.
