A group comprising: A German 1914-1918 War Cross; a commemorative medal for the Franco Russian War 1870-1871; an oval gilt bronze medal and ribbon, the face with the head of Prince Regent Luitpold in relief facing left, circumscribed `LUITPOLD PRINZ-REGENT VON BAYERN`, a sprig of laurel at the base, the reverse inscribed `AM 70 JAHRESTAG MEINES DIENST-ANTRITTES DER BAYER• ARMEE GEWIDMET XXII•III•MCMV` (On the 70th Anniversary of my Entrance into Service with the Bavarian Army, dedicated 22 March 1905) - The medal was awarded on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of his entry into the Bavarian Army by Prince Regent Luitpold. It was awarded to serving officers, non-commissioned officers and military officials (Militärbeamten), to officers of the Reserve and Territorial Army (Landwehr) and to holders of the Gold and Silver Military Merit Medal. In all, just over twenty-two thousand medals were struck at the Bavarian Mint; etc.
Chinese Tibetan Bronze Buddha This Bronze sculpture was dug from the ground circa 1920 near a tree by a Dutch Army Captain preparing a place to sleep. This soldier was part of a military force sent to abolish the practice of headhunting that was common in Hindia Belanda which is now present day Indonesia. It was brought to the Netherlands by this soldier when he returned home from the conflict and passed down through his family and eventually owned by the soldier`s granddaughter who is now retired in Florida. her wish is to remain anonymous.

".....we heard about the downfall of the confederacy and the surrender of Lee's army which, of course put a damper on all...... unable to get supplies. "We found no federal man in port but had not been there 3 hours and there was 2 monitors and a swarm of gun boats to intercept the Rebal Ram. "... I found no trouble in finding employment but by no means as good as before, this war has taken the pride and polish off a good many.."
