dating: 1880 provenance: USA,Cylindrical, rifled, 7-1/2" barrel, with fore-sight, marked "COLT's PT.F.A. M.F.G. Co. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A." and "COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY .45". Probably a replaced barrel, with 11,4 mm. muzzle caliber. Fluted, six-shot cylinder with 10,9 mm. chamber caliber. In working order. Frame with remains of patents marking. Serial number "518xx" on the frame and trigger-guard, missing on the rear band of the grip. Trigger guard marked "44 C.F." Smooth, wooden grip scales.

O'bryan & Son, civil & military tailors & outfitters, Aldershot, phone 1067", together with notification of officer casualty addressed North Ferriby, East Yorkshire, dated 24.05.57 and three manuals of Civil Defense; 'Basic Training Volume II Basic First Aid' 1956, 'Radioactive Fall-out Provisional Scheme of Public Control' and 'Nuclear Weapons' 1956.
Rob Ram McGregor.Perhaps the most famous member of Clan Gregor is Rob Roy MacGregor (Robert Campbell - because of the Prescription) made famous by Sir Walter Scott in his novel "Rob Roy. Rob Roy was a famous leader of men and led the Clan in 1715 at the battle of Sherriffmuir as part of the '15 Jacobite Rising. He had a long running dispute with Graham, Duke of Montrose who used British Army Redcoats to hunt him down. He died peacefully in his bed at his home in Balquidder. The tartan depicted is "Rob Roy".The sheep's main bodies measure approximately 90cm long x 72cm high x 30cm wide. Artist:McGregor Grandchildren.Ruby and Erin McGregor decorated this sheep in “Rob Roy” tartan. Battle of Arnhem Glider Pilot Medals, Log Book & Ephemera.A fine grouping of items attributed to Staff Sergeant Geoffrey Roy Higgins, who landed his Horsa Glider as part of 'F' Squadron Glider Pilot Regiment at Arnhem on the 17th September 1944. Comprising: Medal Group: 1939/45 Star, Africa Star, Italy Star, France & Germany Star, Defence Medal, War Medal. These contained in original forwarding box ink address 'MR G.R. Higgins'. ... Forwarding slip confirming six medals awarded. ... British War Medal awarded to 'F.43325 R. HIGGINS AM2 RNAS'. (Father). ... Two Pilots Flying Log Books, recording training flights with 16 EFTS from June 1942. The log entry 'Sept 17 Horsa RN 274 (Pilot) Self. Sgt Eastwood Operation Market'. The last entry in the second log being 15th February 1945. ... Selection of original photographs whilst training one possibly of 'F Squadron' prior to Arnhem. ... Selection of newspaper cutting etc. A fine comprehensive grouping. First logbook with water damage, Arnhem flight entry log not damaged. Staff Sergeant Geoffrey Roy Higgins of Manchester enlisted into the Royal Army Service Corps, and in 1942 volunteered for Glider Pilot training. He was posted to 16 EFTS his first flight on the 26th June 1942 on a Tiger Moth. He took his first solo flight on the 13th July. Converting to gliders, the logs record a large number of training flights, including Mass Take off's, etc. On the 17th September 1944 with 231 hours 20 minutes under his belt he with fellow pilots of 'F' Squadron were briefed for Operation Market Garden. Part of 2 Wing, his glider endured a 3 hours 50 minutes flight before landing at the LZ. F Squadron were heavily engaged during the battle linking up with the Recce Sqd helped protect the LZ. The following day being attached the Wing HQ. The 19th saw them in new support positions, but these had to be abandoned on the 20th following attacks by a much superior force of SS troops. On the 21st The Squadron counter attacked the infiltrating Germans in the wooded area and drove them back. The fighting continued as the Airborne perimeter shrank and finally on the 25th September the order to withdrawn was given, Crossing the Rhine in small boats which were under fire for the entire crossing. On the opposite bank the withdrawing troops were greeted by Allied soldiers, who were dishing out cigarettes, in later life Staff Sergeant Higgins would again meet the man who gave him cigarettes, he would not recognise his face but would remember his voice anywhere. An official photograph captured Higgins with other battle weary paratroopers to caption simple read 'Back from the Hell of Arnhem'. Returning to F Squadron he was once again flying on the 28th October and would continue training flights until the 5th February 1945 when he appears to have been posted.Private 1 Roy Higgins enlisted into the RNAS in December 1917 and was discharged from the RAF in January 1919, having served with No.9 Kite Balloon Squadron.
