The helmets comprising a 1939 dated brodie helmet with leather liner and chin strap by makers Briggs Motor Bodies of Dagenham and a 1941 Fire Wardens Zuckerman helmet by makers Rubery Owen & Co Ltd of Leeds. Relic type condition with original F.G for Fire Guard painted to the front.

WWII Second World War - a collection of 35mm film camera negatives, each featuring images from the Second World War. A large quantity of negatives have been labelled to the end, and titles include ' Vera Lynn ', ' Army ', ' Arnhem ', ' D-Day ' for example. Many appear to be photographs taken of images in books / known publications, but some appear to be negatives of original photographs (possibly unpublished images). It is unclear if any of these negatives feature unseen images. Various lengths. Provenance unknown, and copyright ownership is also not known.

The Heavy Branch of the MGC was the first to use tanks in combat and was subsequently turned into the Tank Corps, later called the Royal Tank Regiment.

WWII & Post-WWII Second World War Medal group awarded to one 14472116 Sergeant Wallace John Chapman of 9 Parachute Squadron, Royal Engineers. The medal group comprising; WWII Defence Medal, WWII War Medal, QEII General Service Medal with Canal Zone & Cyprus clasps, Suez Canal Zone medal, and National Service Medal 1939-1960. Also includes: his Allied Special Forces medal and Cadet Forces Medal ( both not in frame). Along with the official set of miniatures. All with original ribbons. Also includes a duplicate General Service Medal, Defence Medal and War Medal mounted on bar (these medals are presumed to be his 'wearing' set, whilst the framed set are his 'display' set). Personal effects from Chapman include his Soldier's Service & Pay Book, his Regular Army Certificate Of Service, boxes for some of the medals in the frame, his original George VI cap badged maroon Airborne uniform beret with parachute badge, and a later beret with George VI cap badge, and an Airborne related teddy bear in typical uniform. A hallmarked silver Masonic medal and another similar example (not silver) are also included. Consigned from family. Chapman served in the Gloucester Home Guard from 1943 until he became of age, when he then signed up to the General Service Corps in August 1945. For his work in the Home Guard he was issued the Defence Medal, and for his Army work he was awarded the War Medal. He saw active service in the Suez Canal Zone from 1951-53. His Certificate of Service shows he was discharged on 22nd August 1957.

A WWI First World War medal pair and Memorial Plaque to one 33480 Private William John Dowsell of the Hampshire Regiment, believed to have been killed in action on the first day of the Battle Of Menin Ridge Road, 20th September, 1917, aged 19. Comprising War Medal and Victory Medal, both with original ribbons (impressed 33480 Pte W. J. Dowsell, Hamps. R.), and Memorial Plaque which is complete with card envelope, letter, and paper envelope. Also included is the official Imperial War Graves Commission letter stating his memorial was erected in Hooge Crater Cemetary, Belgium. Dowsell was born in Olveston, South Gloucestershire, near Bristol. Consigned from the family. History of William Dowsell (taken from: sites.southglos.gov.uk/war-memorials/people/william-john-dowsell/):George, the father of William, ran a coal merchant and hauliers business from Haw Lane in Olveston. His wife Hannah was born in the village, while George came from Yate. The family comprised George, born in 1896 and William, born in January 1898, with Edith arriving at the beginning of the new century. Originally the family name was spelt Dowswell but by the time both boys joined the army, they were recorded as DowsellBefore William enlisted at Bristol on the 6th of May 1916 at the age of 18 he had been employed as a brick maker. Within four days he was posted to the 9th Royal Berkshire Regiment but was subsequently transferred to the 15th Battalion of the Royal Hampshire Regiment. By this time, William’s father George had emigrated to America while Hannah and her daughter Edith had moved to Rose Cottage in TockingtonThe 15th Battalion was involved in the significant attack at Flers on the Somme on the 15th of September 1916 when the British Army first deployed tanks. The Battalion then moved into Flanders and was engaged in the Ypres Salient throughout the winter of 1916/17, mostly in the Hedge Street line and tunnels. The third Battle of Ypres, also known as the Battle of Passchendaele, started on the 31st of July 1917. On the 20th of August with the Battalion in action at Tower Hamlets to the south-east of Ypres on the Menin Road, Second Lieutenant Moore of the 15th Battalion won a VC. William was Killed in Action in the continuing action at Tower Hamlets and the Tower Trench system in the area of Gheluvelt on the 20th of September when 89 men of the 15th Battalion were Killed in Action and 255 were wounded. William is buried in the Hooge Crater Cemetery outside Zillebeck some two and a half miles from YpresWilliam’s brother George survived the war but was seriously wounded in the chest and was temporarily repatriated to the UK where, after recuperation, he guarded German prisoners of war. George was greatly affected by the brutality of war, particularly so when he was told that his comrades had shot and killed the German sniper who inflicted the injury to his chest, it transpired that he was only a young boy.

The red felt hat with blue band, ROAC metal badge and black patent peak. Retaining an inner brown leather headband, dated 1962 with broad arrow marks. The Military Police armband also of red felt construction with buckle and Velcro fastening.

An original WWI First World War Imperial German Army model 98 / 05 Mauser rifle butcher bayonet. Hooked pommel with ribbed wooden grip and upturned quillon. The ricasso stamped for makers Alex Coppel, Stolingen and the spine with a crowned ' W ' above a 1917 date. The wide spear point blade housed in a thick leather scabbard with steel furniture. Measure approx 51cm.

An original WWII Second World War Third Reich Nazi German Army issued M35 Stahlhelm Q62 steel combat helmet, by repute liberated from the home of Nazi Germany's Foreign Minister Joachim von Ribbentrop. Stamped Q68 to inside, along with ' 259 '. Single decal version, with swastika and eagle motif side. Complete with original liner and leather chin strap. Good example of a helmet, from the home of the Nazi Foreign Minister. Provenance: The helmet was liberated from Von Ribbentrop's home by a Major Holloway of the Intelligence Corps, who was part of the 26th FS Section with the 59th Infantry Division who captured him in 1945. From a large private collection of militaria. Comes with Holloways' Intelligence Corp uniform title and cap badge, and a photograph of Holloway taken in Hamburg, 1942. (Previously sold by us in February 2020)
