A gentleman's stainless steel Rolex Oyster 'Army' issue mechanical strap watch, c.1943. Circular silvered dial with half Roman and half Arabic dial, luminous hands and black centre seconds sweep. Cushion shaped bevelled case with oyster crown case, marked stainless steel r.w.c., case no. 260018, model no. 3139 After movement strap fitted. This case has been opened and will require re-sealing prior to being worn. Dial probably restored.
Walter Ernest Spradbery (British, 1889-1969):A pair of watercolours depicting views in Ullswater and Chigwell, each signed. Note: Walter Spradbery was a watercolorist, linocut artist, poster designer and art teacher. He specialised in landscapes showing the countryside around London and regularly exhibited at the Royal Academy. His poster designs were produced mainly for London Transport, although he received some commissions for the LNER and British Railways. A lifelong pacifist, he served in the Royal Army Medical Corps during the First World War, and was also an official war artist. A memorial exhibition was held at the William Morris Gallery, London in 1970.
