In 1940, raw material supplies became increasingly stretched and the Mk. II helmets of lower quality material had holes drilled in the rim (near the chin strap rivet) to indicate the quality of the steel used in the manufacture.

Marked Coy Sergt Major G.H.Pateman. 22ND July 1918, along with a certificate and letters of thank you from the boys father and rector of Beaumont College old Windsor dared 1918, paper clippings and photograph of his time in the Army Physical Training Corps.

An early 20th century tin uniform trunk - the japanned exterior with remnants of travel labels and painted with the owner's name 'A.E. Wood R.N.' 106 x 38 x 26 cm, well-used with dents and losses to japanned finish throughout. * Rear Admiral Arthur Edmund Wood CMG (1875-1961) was born at Winchfield, Hampshire and trained at Britannia Royal Naval College. In Jan. 1903 he was posted to HMS Britannia As a 1st lieutenant. He was promoted commander in 1907 captain in 1915. During the later period of the war he was captain of the cruiser HMS Apollo. He was placed on the Retired List in 1922 and promoted Rear Admiral in 1926. In 1912 he made a single first-class appearance as captain of the Royal Navy Cricket Club against the British Army cricket team at Lord's.
