A group of five WWII medals awarded to 7349991 WO CL2 H.G. Preece, RAOC, a quantity of cap and other military badges (cloth and metal), a pair of CGB 53 GA 6X30 binoculars, "REL/Canada 1944", (in canvas case), also various ephemera, including: Identity card "Army in India", Soldier`s Service and Pay Book with discharge certificate noting cause for discharge: "For the purpose of being appointed to an Emergency Commission para 390 (xvii) KR 1940".

Japanese ancestral WW2 Surrender Sword - this piece is an Imperial senior officers sword, with an ancestral Samurai blade circa 16th century, late Koto to early Shinto period. The katana is housed in a wooden Saya and Tsuka. The fittings which accompany the blade are the 1875/86 pattern sword furniture used by army officers upto 1934. The fittings include a narrow obverse hand guard which has two pierced panels decorated with foliage and the Kadosakura form of cherry blossom, the grip is covered in Ray skin and bound with brass twisted wire, this fitted with a temporary wooded blade for storage in its full length leather combat scabbard. The Tang is not signed. A scarce good piece, please view with care.

DCM + 1915 Star Trio group to 10721 Cpl Fred Tomlinson 18th Manchester Regt (Pals Regt). DCM under Army Order 193 of 1919 in the London Gazette of 30/1/1920 (The POW Gazette). This Gazette contains Gallantry Awards for many of the famous "last stands" of the Great War. Tomlinson was an original "Pal" and served in Platoon No XIII in `D` Co. It is likely he was decorated for gallantry at Guillemont on 30th July 1916 as battalion runner and taken prisoner during this action which lost the 18th Manchesters nearly 500 casualties. (CSM 10947 G Evans 18/Manch R was awarded the VC for this action). EF (4)

La Canzone del Piave, Note di Guerra di un Combattente, Rome, Editori Alfieri & Lacroix, 1924, colour and b&w illusts. throughout, orig. wrappers, stitched as issued, a little rubbed to extrems., and some surface marks to mounted illustration to upper wrapper, oblong folio. An account commemorating the Battle of the Piave bewteen the Italian and Austrian armies in June 1918, which incurred massive losses on both sides, and led to the disintegration of the Austro-Hungarian army as a fighting force.
