An unusual group of 5 Second World War medals for service in the South African armed forces. 1939-45 Star Medal, Africa Star medal, War Medal 1939-45, Africa Service Medal, Defence Medal, all medals with officially impressed naming “251531 G.J. O’DONOGHUE”. With 3 ribbon bars, 2 of which have homemade ‘8’ devices on the Africa Star ribbons, South African armed forces medal issue slip indicating the issue of these 5 medals along with the 8th Army clasp, Auxiliary Service letter dated 14th June 1977 relating to the appointment of G.J. O’ Donoghue as Guard Commander.
WW2 British Medals, Ephemera & Car Flag of Field Marshal Sir William Slim’s Security in Burma, the grouping all belonging to Lance Corporal Charles Christopher Case Corps of Military Police (C.M.P), medals include 1939-45 star (MID oakleaf to ribbon), Burma star, 1939-45 war medal and Defence medal. Accompanied by various items of ephemera and a snapshot photograph album compiled by Case during the war. Inside cover of the album with printed 14th Army formation signs, images taken in the far east in 1945, Japanese surrender signing, scenes of Singapore, etc. Also accompanying the grouping is an original 14th Army car flag taken from Fiel Marshal Sir William Slim’s staff car which Case was in charge of security. Grouping comes with a typed history of his service. Being sold by direct family descent.
A Great War pair of medals with an Imperial Service Medal to a recipient from Swansea. British War and Victory Medals, “77544 SPR G.H. NASH R.E.” in repaired box of issue, Imperial Service Medal, GVIR, 1st type, “GEORGE HENRY NASH”, in titled card box of issue, this repaired. Imperial Service Medal, London Gazette 11th October 1946 - NASH, George Henry, Skilled Workman, Class I, Swansea Telephone Area. George Henry Nash was born in Swansea in 1892 and attested for service on 8th November 1915 in Port Talbot. He was discharged to Class Z Army Reserve on 1st July 1919.

A Van Ingen & Van Ingen Bengal Tiger (Panthera Tigris Tigris) Skin Rug, the head mounted on wood with an open mouth showing teeth and glass eyes, the whole mounted with black felt and with khaki canvas to the underside, 305cm x 193. Markings: The underside of the canvas is marked with the inventory number, 17466 and Van Ingen & Van Ingen, Mysore, and the wooden mount is signed in pencil, 466 with an illegible name.Provenance; according to the Van Ingen records 17,466 relates to Major General Sir R. Hutchison, KCMG, CB, DSO, States Enquiry Committee, Camp India, 12th April 1932, who had two Tiger skins and skulls sent to 19 Montague Square, London on the 14th September 1932.Major-General Robert Hutchison, 1st Baron Hutchison of Montrose, (1873 – 1950), was a Scottish soldier and Liberal politician. He served in both the Boer War and the WWI. He retired from the army in 1923 and became a politician. On his retirement from the House of Commons in 1932, he was raised to the peerage as Baron Hutchison of Montrose.
