1950’s British Army Parka Medium Without Hood, good worn example of the winter parka that was famously worn by the British forces in Korea. This example is complete with its 1954 dated label to the inside. Shows wear and some staining. Worn by the vendor during his Military service which did include the Korean war where he was wounded. Original vintage propaganda poster Map Review No 24 Published March 29th 1947, featuring articles 'India June 1948' on the preparation for the independence, covering aspects of Indian Civil Service, justice, health services, railways, Indian army, and the police; German agenda - on the zones of influence over West and East Germany; Slaves of the Nation? - with The Conservatives complaining that important legislation is being hurried through Parliament without sufficient scrutiny, with a photograph of the Palace of Westminster Parliament with Big Ben clock. The reverse of the poster features an article Another Year at School, with stick figures holding up posters requesting more teachers, less pupils in class, and extra year of school, with statistic on the total number of teachers, including retiring, replacement and reform teachers, stylised as chalk drawings on the blackboard. Nameplate SPYCK ex Hunslet WD 0-6-0 ST built in 1943 as works number 2889. Numbered WD 75040 and later Army No 106. It spent a lot of its working life on the Marchwood Military Railway and was withdrawn in December 1961 from the Longmoor Military Railway. It was sold in 1963 to Woodhams Barry and scrapped. Rectangular cast brass with additional Royal Engineers Crest above.
dating: 1878 provenance: Greece, Round, rifled, 11 mm cal. barrel at the nozzle (bore clean, visible grooves on the inside), with clutch for the bayonet and foresight, foldaway and adjustable rear sight, various marks including the Liege bench mark and date '1873'. Falling block bolt. Marking 'EM & L NAGANT A LIEGE' and with mark. The dorsal tang with marking in Greek and wording of the Milena model. In front of the trigger guard, the bolt opening knob. Working mechanics. Smooth, wooden butt and fore-end, the butt side with Greek stamp and date '1873', on the bottom crowned 'R'. Marked iron mounts. With bayonet (matching? the joint doesn't seem to fit very well) with metal scabbard. Attached are historical notes collected by the owner, on this rare rifle adopted by the Greek army. length 101 cm.
dating: 1838 provenance: USA, Round, rifled, 52 cal. barrel at the nozzle (clean bore), with foresight. The breech block with bolt action that lifts from below thanks to the iron lever placed in front of the trigger guard. Incorporated in the bolt, the flintlock, with back hammer, pan and batteria. Working mechanics. Remains of the markings 'J.H. HALL / H. FE... / US 1838'. Full, brown stained wooden stock. Iron mounts. Butt plate with some pitting. Iron ramrod. Attached are historical notes collected by the owner.This rifle, manufactured by Harpers Ferry Armory under license from John J. Hall, was the first mass-produced breech-loading military rifle adopted as a nationally issued sidearm. A large number of these models were used in the Civil War and converted to rimfire by the Confederate army. See Flayderman's Guide, 9th Edition, pp. 556-557. length 134 cm.
dating: about 1860 provenance: USA, Round, smooth, 53 gauge barrel with adjustable rear sight and foresight. Bolt action and lower hammer. Full, wooden stock with iron mounts, the tang marked 'GREENE'S PATENT/NOV. 17. 1857'. Compartment in the butt-plate. Manufactured by the A. H. Waters Armory, Milbury, Massachusetts circa 1859-1860. Only 1500 US examples and 3000 for a contract with Russia. It was the first Bolt Action rifle adopted by the US Army. length 133 cm.
