Resistance and fighter ace signed RAFES 22 cover. Pat Cheramy, an English lady and pre-war golfer, who became on of the bravest women in the French Resistance Movement Signed The Pat O’Leary Line FDC. Her French husband, Charles Cheramy, and she assisted over 200 airmen to evade capture. She was caught by the Gestapo and the inhumanity that she suffered: torture and a badly fractured skull, and 19 months in Ravensbrueck, in the condemned-to-die wing of the gas chamber and, when rescued by the US Army, her weight of 49 pounds or 22.3 Kg. The insert card is well-worth reading. Also signed by Wg Cdr F W Higginson a Battle of Britain pilot ace with 12 victories was assisted by the Cheramys. A Victorian pole screen for the Royal Field Artillery, the central panel formed from an Sabreatache, intricately embroidered with gilt metal gun and motto, 141cm high *This pole screen was the property of Colonel Samuel Parr Lynes, Royal Horse Artillery, born 1838 & died 1919. Samuel Parr Lynes was a direct descendant of Sir William De Parre, from which same line Kateryn Parre, last Queen of King Henry V111 also descended. Lynes was the Great Grandson of the well known celebrity Dr.Samuel Parr (1747-1825)(ref: Google). After Army service, Lynes resided at the family estate of Garthmeilio, Nr. Corwen. He was High Sherriff of Denbighshire in 1906. Two of his sons achieved notoriety, the eldest Rear Admiral Hubert Lynes (ref: Google) was highly decorated for Naval service in WW1 and his youngest son, Humphrey Dod Lynes was Land Agent to the Duke of Westminster for the Grosvenor Estates, Chester. A Victorian Officers' sword and scabbard belonging to Capt Vincent Coldwell of the 4th Indian Cavalry, the blade by Robert Mole and Sons 'War and India Offices', pierced half basket hilt with VR royal cypher and the name V. Coldwell, blade length 82cm, overall length 98cm *Note: Provenance of Linley Hall, Shropshire. Vincent Coldwell, born on the 3rd of May 1880 in Shrewsbury was also an Army Officer in the 19th Hussars. He died of typhoid fever aged 36 on the 18th of April, 1916. He is buried in Basra Cemetary in Iraq.
