A German Third Reich Army Officer's Dagger, the 25cm double edge steel blade etched W Holler, Solingen, the tang with billet marks, the silver plated hilt with wrythen fluted cream plastic grip, with plated scabbard and green velvet backed silver lace hanging straps and silver bullion portapee; a Swagger/Swordstick, with 31.5cm square tapering blade and pigskin bound grip and haft (2). 1 - Blade tip is a little bent. Surface of crossguard has three small blister dots. Generally good. 2 - Blade is indistinctly stamped with European lettering. Scuffing to the leather.

Burma, 6th November 1943 to 31st August 1944 - A Hand Written Diary, being an account of a British soldier's experiences exploring the countryside and engaging with the Japanese enemy. Taken from his original pencil written account and transferred by him to an 'Army Book 152 Correspondence Book (Field Service)', of approximately 174 pages, with a Preface and a Prologue dated 11/11/44 in which he states ''My visit to Burma was stormy enough - I went through hell and agony and torment, almost to breaking point. But, my recollections are also pleasant, impossibly pleasant. Without hesitation I can say that the happiest days of my life were spent there, even our withdrawal and the horror of the war on the plains of Imphal were all sources of interest and enlightenment...'' The last page is indistinctly signed J Ibbeton??. Lacking two pages at the beginning.

Front free-endpaper inscribed, 'To Sir Alan Lascelles with all good wishes, B.L. Montgomery F.M., Berlin 6-1-46'. On June 16th, 1944, Lascelles travelled with George VI to visit Field-Marshall Montgomery at his headquarters near Creully, France. In his diary, Lascelles notes, 'Here, after a visit to his famous caravan, we lunched - the King, Monty, Dempsey (GOC Second Army), Kit Dawnay, Ramsay, two ADCs and myself; a good luncheon, with genuine Camembert cheeses - a thing we'd not seen in London since 1940. The King then held a small investiture, elaborately staged by Monty, who made a speech about each investee (whose decorations, by the way, I had been carting about in a pouch ever since we had left London).'
