A Third Reich M40 double decal steel helmet, with traces of grey/green finish, army decal and traces of SS (?) decal on right, with original lining and chinstrap and camouflage net, generally GC (worn and pitted, split in top of skull); and a late war SS fur lined parka, made from captured Italian material and issued to a few SS units after D Day. GC. The vendor states that this item was recovered in Poland and that both items are from a Latvian SS unit. (2)

Lancs, (Army Rifle Association 1929, machine gun medallion, Jamaica Command Athletic meeting 1923 five miles medallion) along with a Womens Voluntary Service medal etc and a British Red Cross enamelled East Lancashire (q)
Militaria: an album of over 130 photographs taken by a member of the Royal Army Medical Corps, starting at Belsen in May 1945 following its liberation by the British on April 15th. Images include the ongoing treatment given to Belsen inmates prior to their repatriation, the burning of the camp hunts and Nazi images as part of the decontamination of the site. After the section on Belsen, the photos include other locations such as Fallingsboster, a former Russian run concentration camp during this deployment.

Russian-German legion & the Napoleonic campaignA.L.S. from Earl Cathcart to Sir Hudson Lowe, discussing payments for the Russian German Legion, ordering his reports to be sent to "His Majesty's ambassador at the Court of Russia", supplies: "all supplies except arms and ammunition at to be met in the first instance by Russia", Lowe's duty "to ascertain the condition of the legion, and the manner in which the convention between Great Britain and Russia is executed", subsidies &c., 7pp., Inchenberg [?], 11 July 1813 Note: The Russian-German Legion was a military unit set up in 1812 by the banished graf Peter of Oldenburg on the instigation of Tsar Alexander I of Russia. It was formed to fight against Napoleon as part of the Imperial Russian army, but was paid by Russia's ally Great Britain. Earl Cathcart, ambassador and military commissioner to Russia, served with distinction with the headquarters of the allies throughout the War of Liberation (1812-1814). Major-General Sir Hudson Lowe was sent in January 1813 to inspect the Russo-German legion then being formed and accompanied the armies of the allies through the campaigns of 1813 and 1814, being present at thirteen important battles.

Including several views of the Upper Bala Hissar, Winter scenes, 5th Punjab infantry in position at Sherpur in December 1879, inside Sherpur, Chiefs from Kohistan, General parade of the Kabul field force, Entrance to the pariburrah going towards Kabul, Fighting men Huzara and Kohistani, Officers 3rd regiment Punjab cavalry.
Gilbert Stuart (1755-1828) oil on canvas - portrait of Charles Francois Dumouriez (1739-1823) wearing white wig and cravat, emerald green coat with gold bullion embroidery in original giltwood frame with extensive hand written history of the artist and sitter to reverse, 53.5cm x 44.5cm (Charles Francois Durmouriez was born on 25th January 1739. He had a fascinating military and political career having joined the army in 1757 rising to the rank of General during the Revolution. He became a spy for Louis XV's secret service, was imprisoned in The Bastille, became Commandant of Cherbourg, French Foreign Minister in 1792, Minister of War and Successful Revolutionary General until he changed sides and fell from grace. He fled France and settled in England in 1804 where he assisted the British War Office against Napoleon. He died at Turville Park, near Henley on Thames on 4th March 1823).
