Mounted as worn, GVF. With corresponding un-named miniatures. Together with 2 photos of recipient in uniform wearing the group, together with various press notices including Obituary 4th Dec. 1943, with mention of service at Gallipoli where he was twice mentioned in despatches. MC note: Military Cross awarded for operations at ANZAC on 21st August 1915...New Zealand Mounted Brigade. When all other officers of the Battalion had become casualties, Captain Saunders took command. He made all the preparations necessary within the Battalion for an attack on the Turkish trenches, carried out a personal reconnaissance of the ground obtaining valuable information and led the Battalion into action.” Plate 1

* Drummond-Fish (Captain George, 1876-1938). Landscape with mountains and sheep and heather, Connemara, Ireland, watercolour, signed, approx. 17 x 24.5 cm, framed and glazed. George Drummond-Fish studied at Liverpool School of Art and on the Continent, and served in the army during WW1. He exhibited twelve times at the Royal Hibernian Academy, and lived in or near Dublin. * Campbell (Barbara Mary, 'Cam', born 1913). A set of four orig. watercolour illustrations featuring three kittens, orig. pen, ink, pencil & watercolour, each approx. 23.5 x 35 cm, framed and glazed. Barbara Mary Campbell studied at Clapham School of Art, St. Martin's and Central School of Art. During the Second World War she worked in the Land Army, and in her spare time wrote and illustrated her first book, The Story of the Buttercup Fairy. She wrote several children's books, including a series entitled The Three Jolly Fishermen, The Three Jolly Clowns, etc., in the early 1950s. The present works appear to be watercolours designed for this series featuring the various adventures of three kittens. (4)
A rare Joseph Haskins 'Maberley Forever' Northamptonshire election bobbin, circa 1820-30 inscribed in red and black spots with pink and clear glass spangles Lt Colonel Maberley (1798-1885) whose family had made a fortune for supplying the army with boots and shoes during the Napoleonic wars, was elected MP for the Northamptonshire Borough from 1820-30 first as a Tory, then as a Whig.
An historic .36 calibre colt model 1851 Navy percussion revolver owned by the filibuster William Walker, General and self-declared President of Nicaragua, no. 56135 for 1856 with blued 7 1/2 inch barrel with 'New-York City' address, case-hardened rammer, case-hardened frame stamped 'Colts Patent' , blued roll-engraved cylinder, case-hardened rammer, silver-plated small brass trigger-guard, silver-plated grip-strap engraved with the owner's name 'Gen. Wm. Walker, Na. Army.', varnished walnut grip, matching serial numbers, and retaining much original finish throughout (the barrel with a series of small dents on the right about the wedge, the cylinder stops with light wear, the blued and silver-plated finish with scattered flaking, fading and age wear); together with a contemporary unmarked leather holster of pre-Civil War type, probably the original (2) 33cm; 13in
A .31 calibre Colt model 1849 percussion pocket revolver,no.97149 for 1854 with blued 5in octagonal barrel with 'New York City' address, case-hardened rammer, the frame stamped 'Colt's patent', roll-engraved cylinder, silver-plated grip-strap and trigger-guard, walnut grip, matching serial numbers, and retaining some original finish; a.44 calibre Colt model 1860 Army percussion revolver, no.106176 for 1863, of standard production specifications, with rebated cylinder and matching serial numbers (wear and light pitting throughout, the rammer and latch missing); a .44 calibre Remington New Model Army revolver, no.75854, of standard production specifications (wear and light pitting throughout); a composite.41 calibre percussion revolver built on the Remington Army model, in pseudo Confederate style, with sighted octagonal barrel incorporating a short rammer, the frame stamped 'A*R.V.M.*C.S.' on the left, and fitted with back-sight, and later walnut grips the first: 25.5cm; 10in (4)
