Tribal War Club. An original carved tribal war club (possibly South Sea Island), circa 19th century, with several notches signifying the number of kills the club has performed, length 124cm approx., together with An early Gretna Green marriage certificate, dated 1797, relating to the marriage of Robert Thomas Wilson to Jemima Belford, size 13.3cm x 16cm approx., plus a leather bound volume by Robert Wilson, Recueil des Pieces et Documens Officiels, Relatifs, aux services civils et Militaires du General Anglais..., published Paris, 1822, 64pp., contemporary red gilt decorated morocco, 8vo. Sir Robert Thomas Wilson was a British general who served in Flanders, Egypt, and was seconded to the Imperial Russian Army in 1812. Provenance: Items have come from the estate of a gentleman who fought in the Battle of Waterloo.
AN EXCELLENT EXAMPLE OF A RARE SERBIAN KNIFE FOR USE WITH THE 8MM YUGOSLAVIAN M1948 MAUSER RIFLE CLOSELY PATTERNED AFTER THE GERMAN WWII8MM MAUSER K98K RIFLE. THE M1948 BAYONET WAS A SHORT VERSION OF THE PRE-WWII M1924 BAYONET, ADOPTED WHEN YUGOLSLAVIA REBUILT THE VOJNO TAHNICKI (MILITARY TECHNICAL INSTITUTE) FACTORY, WHICH WAS TOTALLY DESTROYED DURINT THE SECOND WORLD WAR BY THE GERMANS. THE CRYLLIC MARKING ON THE BLADRE IN A SEMI-CIRCLE OVER THE NUMBER 44 SHOWS THIS BAYONET IS PRE 1950 AND MANUFACTURTED IN THE ZAVODI CRVENA ZASTAVA (RED FLAG WORKS) KRAGUJEVAC, SERBIA WHICH IS STILL OPERATING TODAY. THE BAYONET IS AS IT WAS ORIGINALLY MADE AND STILL HAS GREASE ON THE BLADE. IT HAS MATCHING SERIAL NUMBER 78544 ON THE CROSSPIECE OF THE BAYONETAND ON THE FROG STUD WITH A 44 IN A TRIANGLE ON THE SCABBARD. THE VENDOR WAS GIVEN THIS BAYONET BY A SENIOR OFFICER IN THE BOSNIAN SERB ARMY AS A GIFT WHILST SERVING THERE AS AN OFFICER IN THE NATO STABILISATION FORCE (SFOR).
A WWI military medal group of five medals awarded to 8890 Sgt G Mitchell I/Devon R, comprising: Military Medal (GV), 1914 "Mons" Star with clasp (CPL), British War medal, Victory medal and Army Long Service and Good Conduct medal, (swivelling scroll suspender), (5608135 WO CL2 G Mitchell, MM Devon Rgt), (5), with ribbon bar, also a WWII Special Constabulary medal to Albert G Mitchell.
A WWI pair of medals awarded to 34904 Pte WJJ Pepprell Glouc R: British War and Victory medals, together with a napkin printed with regimental crests, cigarette silks, postcards and greetings cards, a commemorative medallion, a photograph album with leather, olive wood and embossed-copper cover containing snaps of Egypt, army personnel, etc. and a small stamp album.
* Stanislav Vladimirovitch Plutenko [b.1961]- Vanity Eulogy,:- signed and dated 1992 bottom right further signed, inscribed and dated 1992 on the reverse oils on canvas 97 x 118cm. * Biography Stanislav Vladimirovitch Plutenko was born in Moscow. He sketched and painted throughout his childhood but his parents disapproved and Plutenko was sent to study turbine construction at the Moscow Machine Construction Institute. After army service he became a designer and art student and exhibited in Moscow at the Red Star Gallery and in a private gallery in 1988. Further showings and exhibitions have been held at Interart '89 in Sweden, Chicago in 1990 and Germany in 1991. From 1992 he has been a regular exhibitor at various Moscow shows.
