The medals have been court mounted. Private Alexander was taken Prisoner of War and held at Stalag VIII-A in Gorlitz, Saxony. His Prisoner of War number was 16678.

Victorian Army Long Service Good Conduct Medal School of Musketry, awarded to “398 PTE W HOLMES SCHOOL OF MUSKETRY”. Medal remains in good condition. William Holmes was born in Sheffield. At the time of enlistment his trade was a Cutler. He originally enlisted in the 1st battalion 19th regiment of foot (Green Howards). He served with the battalion in the East Indies for 8 years and 8 months. He transferred to the School of Musketry on 30th June 1869. His Long Service medal was awarded on 1st June 1877. Medal is accompanied by photocopied service records and research.

USSR Award Certificate for Liberation of Polish City of Radom, printed citation also known as the “Thank You From Marshal Stalin” citation was awarded to Petty Officer Zubarev Ivan Agafonovich. Citation has inked signature to the bottom, which is believed to be that of Hero of the Soviet Union recipient Boris Kotlyarsky. Citation is accompanied by a 1st Polish Army ID card, booklet regarding the Moscow Trial of 16 Polish Diversionists June 18-21 1945 and two hand written letters. (5 items)

The headdress in the grouping consist of 2x berets with bullion generals badges, beret with bullion insignia of Lieutenant Colonel rank, officers dress caps for Royal Army Service Corps and Army Legal Corps. Headdress is all housed in an original storage box addressed to Major General Selwood and most of the uniforms have a tailors label with his name typed or inked. (17 items) Major General Selwood was director general of the Army Legal Corps from 8th January 1990 until 4th May 1992.

Victorian India and Boer War Medal Pair Awarded to Private John Campbell 2nd Seaforth Highlanders, Indian General Service medal 1854-95 with clasp Hazara 1891 and Queens South Africa medal with three clasps, Cape Colony, Transvaal and Wittebergen. Medals are named in the correct style. Medals remain in good overall condition. John Campbell was born in Hamilton, county of Lanark. He enlisted in the Seaforth Highlanders at Edinburgh on 23rd February 1886. Posted to the East Indies from 1888-1894,serving in the Hazara campaign of 1891.Transferred to the army reserve, serving with the regiment in South Africa during the Boer War from 14th February 1900 until 9th August 1902. Campbell was trialled by court martial and sentenced to 21 days imprisonment for drunkenness on active service. He was discharged from the army in August 1902.

Waffen SS Peaked Cap Eagle, being an early copper based example with some of the copper metal showing through the frosted silver finish. Eagle is marked on the reverse M1/72 RZM. Eagle is missing the fittings from the reverse. Accompanied by 2x German army cap eagles and a Fire Officials cap eagle, all missing the fittings on the reverse. Lot 33

WW2 Medal, Paperwork & Photograph Album Grouping of Clifford Owen Hill 1st Armoured Engineer Squadron Royal Engineers, the medals consist of 1939-45 star, Africa star, Italy star, Defence medal and 1939-45 war medal. Medals are accompanied by the original forwarding slip and the original entitlement claim form. Amongst the many items of paperwork in the grouping is his Soldiers Service book, Soldiers Release book, record of service card, plus various other documents and loose pictures. The photograph album that accompanies the grouping consists of mostly snap shot images taken during the Italian campaign, many images of tanks, armoured vehicles, comrades, local scenes etc. Towards the end of the photograph album are images when he was stationed in Germany as part of the Army of Occupation which shows pictures of them blowing up ship yards and the building of new bridges etc. The album does contain some souvenir images which could be bought at the time. Album contains 155 images in total, most of the images have an annotation below. Souvenir shrapnel and cap badges also accompany the grouping. Clifford Hill originally enlisted in the Royal Fusiliers as a Boy soldier in 1938. At the outbreak of war he was too young to fight so was placed on reserve until old enough to serve overseas. In 1941 he joined the Young Soldier Battalion of the East Surrey regiment before later joining the Royal Engineers from 1942 until demob in 1947.

Indian Mutiny and Long Service Medal Pair Awarded to 3550 Private Andrew Burnett 72nd Highlanders, Indian Mutiny medal with clasp Central India and Victorian Army Long Service medal with small letter reverse. Both medals are named in the correct style. Medals show some light contact marks but generally good condition. Andrew Burnett was born in the parish of St Cuthberts, Edinburgh. A cabinet maker by trade, he attested for regular army service with the 72nd Highlanders on the 8th November 1855. He served 20 years and 111 days with the colours. He was awarded the Long Service Good Conduct medal 4th May 1874. He was discharged 12th June 1876. His sole entitlement was the Indian Mutiny medal and LSGC medal.

WW2 Defence and War medal ribbons to the breast. Accompanied by the matching skirt, green shirt, removable shirt collars and tie. All remain in very good condition.

Great War Polish Legion in France American Volunteers Medal & Document Group, consisting of brass American Volunteers in the Polish Army WW1 medal with replacement red and white ribbon, American veterans association medal of Polish soldiers who fought with the Polish Legion, award citation for the American Volunteers medal dated 1921, Large coloured portrait of a Polish soldier and his wife, clearly wearing the American volunteers medal, plus other documents. Interesting grouping.

German Army Double Decal Transitional M-16 Steel Helmet, retaining approx 50% of the original apple green paint finish to the exterior of the shell. Helmet retains German army eagle decal to one side and remains of the original tri-colour decal to the other. Helmet has a Third Reich period style eight tongue liner and steel band. The liner shows some wear and has damage in places.

Army Parachute Jump Instructors Sealed Pattern Qualification Wing, embroidered jump wing with green wreath and APJI to the centre. Wing is attached to the original 1953 dated sealed pattern card. Red wax inspectors seals to the reverse.

Interesting Grouping of Polish Army of the East Photographs, consisting of black and white snap shot size images, showing pre-war service and then service under the Soviet Russian forces. Many of the images show soldiers wearing Russian style uniforms with traditional Polish Rogatywka style caps. One postcard size image shows three soldiers wearing uniform with the distinctive cap piast eagle worn by the forces serving with the Soviets. (29 images)
