He was awarded the DSO later that year. Post war he was chairman of the Economic League, a cover organisation liaising between the secret services of NATO powers. South Wales Borderers, WWI British Trio, awarded to 13588 Private Thomas Watkins, before the war Watkins served in the Royal Navy, service number 30684, at the beginning of WWI Watkins joined C Company, 1st Battalion, South Wales Borderers, 3rd Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, while seeing service in France we received a gun shot wound to his left knee, he was evacuated back to the UK, he transferred to the 11th Service Battalion, Liverpool Regiment and went to Belgium where the Battalion fought in the Battle of the Scarpe, Battle of Langemark and the 1st Battle of Passchendaele, again being evacuated back to the UK to the Moss Side Military Hospital with shell shock, upon recovery he transferred to the Army Service Corps finishing his Army Service in the Labour Corps at Liverpool Docks, he was entitled to wear the Silver Wound Badge, no.B284940 (3)
Monmouthshire Regiment, WWI British Trio, awarded to 3497 Private Matthew Simmonds, also attached to 3rd Battalion, South Wales Borderers with service number 39869, on the 9th January 1917 Simmonds was discharged from the army with heart disease, as he was no longer fit for War Service, he was entitled to the Silver Wound Badge number 42643 (3)
George Arnold - Chief Yeoman Warder of the Tower of London, in this lot is his Medal Group and miniatures, comprising WWII Defence and War, Elizabeth II Coronation medal, Army Long Service and Good Conduct medal, and the Meritorious Medal (7255292 W.O.CL.I G.A.Arnold. K.R.R.C), his uniform bullion badges, handmade and machine made, various photographs, Newspaper clippings, and magazine of which he appears, George Arnold became a Yeoman Warder at the Tower of London in 1945, moving to Devereux Tower in 1947, where he became Gaoler, in 1955 he went to live with his wife in 5 Tower Green, (this is where Lady Jane Green was kept in the attic before she was beheaded), later becoming Chief Yeoman Warder, retiring in 1965, moving and spending his retirement in Scarborough, sadly passing in 1983 (parcel)the LSGC is for Class II 7255292 W.O.CL.II G.A.Arnold. Welsh Regiment, WWI British Trio, awarded to 24810 Private Rees Jones, 2nd Battalion, Welsh Regiment, 15th Division, 3rd Infantry Brigade, while serving in France fighting against the Germans, just outside Mametz Woods, with the orders to advance Jones was wounded and taken to No.2 Field Ambulance, then onto the Casualty Clearing Station Albert, then by ambulance train to Heilly Varquemont, then by ambulance ship to England, he was then discharged from the Army as he was not fit of War Service, he is entitled to wear the Silver War Badge no.114131 (3)

Royal Army Medical Corps, WWI British Trio, awarded to 37703 Private James William Dawe, Dawe was sent to Egypt in June 1915, were he was a Medical Orderly at the 19th General Hospital in Alexandria, he would have been treating casualties from Gallipoli, in 1917 he joined the 147th Field Ambulance Base Depot at El-Arish as part of the 75th Division, in May 1918 every available man was called to ranks, Dawe was sent to the 7th Battalion, Royal Welsh (Welch) Fusiliers, with service number 93040, we would have taken part in the Battles of Megiddo, Nablus and Tall' Aser (3)
