Together with Commission document as 2nd Lieut 26th April 1915 (18th Bn Royal Welsh Fusiliers 2nd London Welsh Battalion); ditto dated 5th December 1919 as Captain Indian Army Reserve of Officers; Articles of Agreement as a Temporary Officer in Supply and Transport Corps of Indian Army 25th November 1919, and various other ephemera including portrait photo of McNamara, a “Rolls” razor set and an attractive base metal openwork cigarette case depicting Egyptian scenes stated to have belonged to McNamara’s son. See lots 677 and 678 for other family related items. Note: MC London Gazette 14th November 1916 “Temp Lt William Edward McNamara Gen List attd RE. For Conspicuous gallantry in action. He laid and repaired cables under very heavy fire, displaying great courage and initiative throughout”.

The Logan Chair: A Victorian oak club chair, with a brown leather close studded and buttoned hoop, saddle seat, turned and ringed legs, labelled, "PRESENTED TO THE OFFICERS DEPOT, LEICESTERSHIRE REGt. BY 2nd LIEUT.H.S.LOGAN.2nd BAT 1890", width 64cms, (25"). Footnote: This chair was presented for the officers of the Depot of the Leicestershire Regiment in 1890 by Second Lieutenant H.S. Logan of the Second Battalion. In 1908, as a Captain, (Acting Major), he was commanding a company of the 13th Sudanese Infantry of the Egyptian army. His company accompanied the Governor of the Province who was investigating two murders by the False Mahdi, Abd-el-Kader. Whilst awaiting reinforcement from Khartoum, their camp was attached, Major Logan was among those wounded and later died of his wounds.

An 1879 Queen Victoria South Africa (Boer War) medal (awarded to members of the British Army involved in South African Tribal Wars, most notably the Anglo Zulu War), awarded to Trooper A J Vine (Nat: L Horse) with 1879 clasp together with his original pencil written note book with commencing date 1 June 1879........Private Account........."June 1st entered into Zulu Land at Conference Hill as soon as arrived......." an interesting personal account of the Zulu War and descriptions of battles together with a Chile Bank Book belonging to A J Vine with commencing date 1889.
