Royal Artillery Headdress Grouping, consisting of 1944 dated Far East issue Jungle Bush hat with ten fold pagri, the top four folds in blue and red, the colours of the Royal Artillery. To the side of the cap is cloth equally divided red and blue diamond formation sign for the Royal Artillery. Interior retains the original leather sweatband with clear 1944 date stamp and makers details. Accompanying the bush hat is a Nepalese style blue velvet cap with fine officers gilt metal small pattern Royal Artillery officers cap badge. Named to the interior lining “ADAMS”. The third item of headdress is an officers cap believed to be of the Royal Nepalese Army, having bullion embroidered Queens crown cap badge. All three items remain in good overall condition and are housed in part of an officers cap storage box. (3 items)

Pre War Palestine and WW2 Long Service Group of Corporal S Hards RASC, Who Served with the Infamous Traitor Theodore “Issy” Schurch, Hung For Treason at Pentonville on 4th January 1946, group consists of George VI General Service medal for Palestine “T/36690 CPL S HARDS R.A.S.C”, 1939-45 star, Africa star, Defence medal, 1939-45 War medal and George VI Regular Army Long Service Good Conduct medal “T/36690 CPL S HARDS R.A.S.C”. Medals court mounted for display. Corporal Sidney Hards served with 68th Company R.A.S.C in Palestine. Serving alongside him was Driver Theodore (Issy) Schurch, who during the North Africa and Italy campaigns was charged with nine counts of communicating information to the enemy, in some cases he travelled across enemy lines to communicate the information. Schurch was tried by court martial and sentenced to death by hanging, the sentence was carried out at Pentonville Prison on 4th January 1946, the hangman being Albert Pierrepoint. Comes with folder of research.

97th (Kent Yeomanry) Field Regiment Royal Artillery Officers No1 Dress Full Uniform Grouping, consisting of four pocket No1 blue patrol tunic with flat type brass buttons engraved with Kent Horse KY, officers chain mail shoulder boards and silvered Kent Yeomanry officers collar badges. WW2 8th Army North Africa and Italy campaign medal ribbon bar above the breast pocket. Tunic is accompanied by the matching dress trousers. Also with the uniform is the original dress peaked cap with fine quality gilt metal officers cap badge to the front, leather strap supported by the flat type Kent Yeomanry side buttons. Leather sweatband to the interior with Herbert Johnson tailors details. The cap sadly suffers with moth damage to the reverse section but the uniform is generally in good condition just a little dusty. (3 items)

WW1 British Army Chaplains Trench Cap, fine khaki officers soft trench cap with blackened officers cap badge to the centre. Thin black leather chinstrap supported by pressed leather side buttons with Maltese cross. Reverse of the cap is tailored with eight air vents. Interior of the cap has quilted spun lining which is typical of WW1 officers trench caps. Cap shows honest service wear and staining, some minor areas of moth damage.

Officers bullion cap cockade and bullion dark blue / black backed officers army pattern cap eagle. Thin rose pink Waffenfarbe to the front of the cap. Black cloth lining to the interior with leather forehead cushion. Stitched to the inside of the cap is initials of the original owner “C.v.K”. Cap remains in very good overall condition.

WW2 German Army Winter Camouflage Over Smock, white cloth over smock with one piece hood. Slash side pockets leading to the interior. Original ties to the hood and sleeves. Red cloth pinned to one arm, for display as a manoeuvres armband. Some staining to the front but generally in good condition. These over smocks were worn over uniform and equipment to act as camouflage in winter conditions in places such as Bastogne and on the Eastern front.

WW1 1914 “Mons Bar” Medal Trio Scots Guards, awarded to “3473 PTE G E S ROGERS S GDS”. August – November bar attached to 1914 star ribbon and medals swing mounted for wear. Accompanied by numbered silver war badge, regimental badge with remains of brooch fitting and National Registration card. George Edward Samuel Rogers lived in Stretford, Manchester. He enlisted in the British Army on 6th July 1900 in Liverpool. Mobilised for service with the B.E.F in France August 1914 and served on the Western Front from September 1914 until he was wounded by gunshot wound to the thigh in March 1915.

German Army Wehrpass 1944 Normandy Casualty, belonging to Obergefreiter Anton Josef Fillmann of 2nd Grenadier Regiment 744. Enlisting in 1943, he served with various units before joining 2nd Grenadier Regiment 744 in December 1943, he was killed in Normandy, France on 19th June 1944. The book has civilian photograph to the inside. Grenadier Regiment 744 was part of the German 711 Infantry Division, stationed at Cabourg, northeast of Caen. The unit suffered heavy casualties in defending Sword Beach against the British on D-Day.

Scarce WW2 Polish Holy Cross Mountains Brigade Breast Badge, being of silver plate having screw post fitting on the reverse. Badge has an unmarked copper dish to the reverse. Good overall condition. The Holy Cross Mountains Brigade was a tactical unit of the Polish underground NSZ organisation during WW2. In 1944, they did not obey orders and merge with the home army and as a result were part of the NSZ-ZJ faction. During WW2 this unit fought both the Germans, Soviets and other underground communist units.

Attributed to Arthur Dooley (1929-94), a polished and patinated bronze and steel sculpture: Centurion, the elongated warrior with cloak, shield and spear, on a rectangular base, circa 1970-80, 69 cm high.*Biography Originally employed as a dockyard welder, Dooley enlisted into the Irish Guards in 1945, deserting to join the Palestine Liberation Army and an inevitable period of detention on his recapture. Working as a cleaner in Saint Martins School of Art, London he eventually became a student there in 1953. He returned to Liverpool to become a sculptor and to make ends meet, he was employed by the police. His preferred medium was scrap metal.

A Great Demonstration in favour of International Peace will be held in Hyde Park on Sunday, July 26, 1896, folded, spotted, c.380 x 160mm., 1896; and a quantity of others, similar, by or relating to Morris, mostly socialist (particularly Socialist League, Hammersmith Socialist Society, Fabian Society etc.) but including a few relating to Kelmscott or Morris & Co., some duplicates, most original wrappers, most stained and affected by damp at lower edge or corner, v.s., most 1880s & 1890s; sold not subject to return (a box) ⁂ An interesting but sadly damaged group of pamphlets relating to William Morris and socialism. The first commemorates the death of Alfred Linnell, a young clerk, on 2nd December 1887. On Sunday 13th November 10,000 people including William Morris and George Bernard Shaw had demonstrated in Trafalgar Square against repression in Ireland and unemployment. There were violent clashes and many were beaten by police with truncheons. This was the original "Bloody Sunday" and resulted in another protest against the police and army in Trafalgar Square the following week. During this Alfred Linnell was knocked down by a police horse and died later of his injuries, causing a mass outcry. People flocked to his funeral on 18th December and William Morris, as leader of the Socialist League, gave the main address and produced this pamphlet to raise money for Linnell's family.

Soldier in India.- Langford (Frank, of 85th Light Infantry, fl. 1872-80) Diary, autograph manuscript, 79pp. excluding blanks, in ink and pencil, some ff. excised, a few ff. loose or working loose, a few cut, slightly browned, inner hinges split, original blind-stamped calf, rubbed, original brass clasp, upper cover corner creased, edges and corners worn, 155 x 90mm., 1872-80; and an oil on board portrait of Langford, v.s., v.d. (2). ⁂ "May 12 Wed [1880] Went for a walk after breakfast as far as the village with Sitwell a Joori thief shot at the fort": "Jan 13 Thurs [1880] Reached Lahore 5 am very cold had some tea and bread, went on by train to rest camp, very down all day called on the 8th, all were out, drove to fort in the evening &c... ." Notes on life as an officer in the British Army in India, with some notes from a correspondent in British Columbia, Canada. Devlali, or Deolali, Nashik district, Maharashtra. Deolali was a British Army camp, the original location of the Army Staff College. It is also the source of the British slang noun doolally tap, loosely meaning "camp fever", and referring to the apparent madness of men waiting for ships back to Britain after finishing their tour of duty.

Morris et Comp., [1860]. ⁂ A rare broadside advertising this procession, in which the guild of butchers would show their prize bulls. In this particular year the bulls are named after key locations from the Second Italian War of Independence of 1859, in which a French and Sardinian allied army defeated the Austrian Empire.
