Nazi Army Officers' dress sword, by Eickhorn, Solingen, with gilt brass stirrup hilt with oak leaf decoration and eagle and swastika langet to one side and officers' initials 'A. K.' to the other, plain curved fullered blade, in original black painted scabbard with dress knot and original leather suspender with clip
A BOER WAR POW CAMP IN INDIA CARVED STICK. The officer presented with the carved hardwood stick, Captain B D Broughton a descendant of William the Conqueror. Inset into the stick is Captain B D Broughton, P O W Camp:Bellary:India. Made by W C Stevens, Krijscevangene 12 July 1902. The inset lettering is on each of four sides, above the ornately twisted stem above a damaged tip. 34" overall length, with a four sided pommel. Captain later Mjr B D Broughton served in the Indian Army, promoted Captain 16/8/1910. A Double Company Commander in 1914, serving then in the 13th Rajputs (Sherhawati) Regiment. The son of the 9th Baron Sir Henry Delves Broughton. A relative Sir Hy J Delves Broughton was charged with the murder of his wife's lover, Josslyn Hay the 22nd Earl of Erroll. The basis for the film White Mischief in Happy Valley Kenya.
A LANCASHIRE FUSILIERS 18th BATTALION OFFICERS PAIR. British War & VIctory Medals named to Lieut A R C Lloyd-Williams. Lt Lloyd-Williams joined the 18th Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers from the Officer Training Corps of Trinity College Cambridge, the (2nd South East Lancs Bantam Battalion). Confirmed as a pair only, he received a Mention in Despatches LG 8/7/1919 Page 8755 Gazette 31446. His Oak Leaf Emblem is not present. Commissioned 2/Lt 26th April 1915 in the 18th Service Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers. Promoted to Lt on the 23rd July 1916. Retired from the Army 1920. The Battalion was raised at Bury in January 1915. They landed in France in January 1916, at Le Havre. early in 1917 it ceased to be a Bantam Battalion.

Queen Alexandra's Imperial Military Nursing Service (Reserve) was formed primarily for service some 12 years before the Gt War, replacing the Army Nursing Service. It members served in all theatres of the conflict, Staff Nurse Murchison most probably being disbanded in 1919 or 1920.

Medals address given as 70 Herne Hill Rd, SE 24. With the medals is a silver/enamel Royal Engineers Sweethearts brooch. Also a related silver ARP badge An Africa Star, Defence & War medals with British Forces ID card number 117555. Issued to Lt David Norman Bryan Indian Army with enclosed photograph, also a spare photograph of the recipient. Commissioned (Emergency 2/Lt IA) in October 1941.

Lt 15/3/1950 Capt 5/3/1955 Major 5/3/1962 Shown as still serving in 1972. The Medals are mounted for wear and have a matching miniature group, also mounted for wear.

This officer enrolled in the 1st London Divisional & Supply Company, HQ in January 1909. Served abroad from 1915 and was promoted to Acting Captain, 1st June 1916.
A 1914 STAR/BAR Gt WAR TRIO Spr-2/Lt S A MAWSON (MID EMBLEM) A 1914 Star with Clasp named to 21129 Spr S Mawson. British War & Victory Medals (the latter with Oak Leaf affixed) named to 2/Lt S A Mawson. Sidney Alfred Mawson served with the 5th Field Coy Royal Engineers in France from the 15/8/1914. Later commissioned into the 5th Battalion the South Wales Borderers. (Pioneer Battalion) He was awarded the Mons Star with the R Engineers awarded 9/12/1919 and his Mons clasp (list 1590) award dated 9/8/1920. His British War and Victory Medals were awarded 26/10/1921. His address was then Pineville , West Cliff Gardens, Bournemouth. His Commanding Officer 5th SWB applied for his 1914 Star in 1917, then again in 1919. See MIC details. Commissioned 2/Lt 14/11/1916 Lt 7/5/1917 Retired from Army 1921. Mention in Despatches 27/12/1918 Sir Douglas Haig. LG 31083 Page 15129.
AN UNNAMED INDIA GENERAL SERVICE MEDAL 1854 bar SIKKIM 1888. An 1854 issue India General Service Medal with bar Sikkim 1888. Issued unnamed (not erased), the bar having official rivetted fixings. The medal nicely toned, with no signs of wear. With it a Silver Army Temperance Medal with Victorian crown, damaged enamel.
A GROUP OF WW11 MEDALS AND KOREA PAIR TO A MAJOR RASC. 1939/45-Africa and Burma Stars, Defence & War medals, Korea Service Medal named to Mjr R W Patterson RASC, UN Korea medal. Mounted for wear with a matching miniature group and badge and buttons (R W Kent blazer buttons). A silver and enamel cased Masonic award of the Rupert Patterson Lodge No 3646. On the reverse is inscribed Presented to Mrs J Rupert Patterson to commemorate the Mastership of her husband as first WM January 1914. Hallmarks for London 1913. A full dress cap badge in enamel and metal for the Royal Army Service Corps. Rupert William Patterson was born on the 13th August 1914, commissioned into the Army on the 21st February 1940. Major on the 13th August 1950, retiring 1/12/1957. Educated at Sherborne School from 1928-32 as a Law Student, son of J R Patterson of Penang. From 1933-37 he was serving in the Royal West Kent Regt. 1937- He served in the 4/7th Royal Dragoon Guards. In 1934 a 2/Lt R W Patterson was commissioned into the 20th London Regt. War Services 1939-45 shows that he sevred in the ranks for 1 year and 141 days, prior to Emergency Commission 2/Lt 21/2/1940 Serving in the British Expeditionary Force in 1940 he was awarded promotion in the field. War Subst Lt 21/8/1941. Act Captain 25/12/1941 then T/Capt 25/3/1942. Finally Major in 1950. From 1940-42 He served in the Middle East including Abyssinia and Somalia In 1943 He was serving in Ceylon, thence 1944-45 in Burma as an acting Major. Finally in the Korean War with the Royal Army Service Corps, up to his retirement in 1957. He lived in Kenya after this time then latterly in Austria.
AE COINAGE OF THE EMPEROR VALERIAN 1 253-260 AD. (85) AE Coins of the Emperor Valerian 1, mostly with the obverse legend IMP C LIC VALERIAN P F AVG. With series 1-2- 3 Rome reverses, CONSERVATOR AVG reverse etc. Valerian was proclaimed Emperor upon the death of the Emperor Gallus . His son Gallenius was in joint rule with him. After many battles he set out to subdue the East in 256 AD. His army in 260 AD decimated by disease was captured by the Persians. His date of death is uncertain, he was humbled and treated to a miserable ending as a slave.

He was awarded a 1914/15 Star, placed on Class Z Reserve 18th January 1919. 2. 15016 Pte R H Spearman N Cyclist Ban. The latter mounted for wear with an unnamed Defence Medal (Robert H Spearman) Northern Cyclist Battalion also served in the Northumberland Fusiliers under number 52812. (Dis) on his MIC.

A Memorial Plaque named to Ronald Arneil. Ronald Arneil the older son of Mr & Mrs William Arneil of 59, Priory Rd, Dunfermline, Scotland. Aged 23 years when he was Killed in Action 14th October 1918, whilst serving in the Royal Engineers 4th Cavalry Division Signalling Sqdn. He had previously also served as 758 Highland Cyclist Battalion, 20275 Army Cyclist Corps and latterly 272695 The Royal Engineers. His Military Medal issued for Bravery in the Field, was on the 14/11/1916 Page 11137 of Gazette 29827. His Mention in Despatches was in the London Gazette 1st December 1916 Page 11808. His younger brother was also to lose his life in the immediate post war months, having joined up although only aged around 16 years old. A 1914/15 Star named to 1048 Gnr D Arneil R G A. British War & Victory Medals named to 2.A.M. D Arneil R A F. A Memorial Plaque named to Douglas Arneil. Douglas Arneil was born in 1899, the younger brother of Ronald, when he enlisted he would have been 15-16 years old, having served in France from the 4th April 1915 with the Fife Royal Garrison Artillery. He was 20 years old when he died in Belgium on the 20th February 1919. He is buried in Charleroi Communal Cemetery. Transferred to the Royal Flying Corps as number 406781 Airman 3rd Class, seniority dating from 5/11/1917. Leading Aircraftsman 306215 when he died. By then his mother was a widow, and had moved to 12 Bonnar Street, Dunfermline . Her late husband William was listed as a Hairdresser, in Bonnar Street. See Illustration

Corporal Percy Powley served in Theatre 2b (Balkans from 29-4-1915). He was awarded a Silver War Badge and discharged 1/3/1919. List ACC/171. An associated bracelet has engraved on it 2454 Pte P R Powley V111 Corps Cyclist Battn. C of E.
MILITARY & NURSING MEDALS. A group of three medals to Captain G Pinney, in box of issue and complete with slip. 1939/45 Star, Africa Star with bar 8th Army. War Medal. Gerald Pinney 1907-1990 was serving in the Royal Corps of Signals during WW11. A copied photograph shows him on a horse in front of the Egyptian landscape. Also with the medals is his Regular Army Reserve of Officers lapel badge. A Voluntary Service in Nursing silver medal, named to Miss Muriel Graveley. Three further Red Cross Nursing awards with service bars, one named to M M Graveley. Miss Graveley was a Teacher by profession, a Voluntary Red Cross Nurse by choice. A copied photograph of her in uniform is with the medals.

Two full character jugs; "Old Charlie" and "Happy John", a set of miniature Royal Doulton character jugs of "Kings and Queens of The Realm", comprising "Henry V", "Henry VIII", "Elizabeth I", "Charles I", "Victoria" and "Edward VII", all no.211 in a limited edition of 2500, with certificate and stand, and a pair of Arcadian china crested shoes inscribed "Royal Army Medical Corps". CONDITION REPORT: All appear to be on good condition with only some surface wear and dirt, no obvious damage or restoration. The crested shoes have some rubbing to the paint.
