A creamware jug of American interest c.1800, printed in black to one side with an obelisk bearing a portrait of George Washington and his dates, beneath black clouds parting to reveal the sun, a maiden and an eagle weeping beside, titled 'Washington in Glory' above and 'America in Tears' below, beneath the spout inscribed 'A man without example: A Patriot without reproach', the reverse with a four line stanza featuring Warren, Montgomery and Washington, within an elaborate cartouche, some restoration to the spout and rim, 21cm high. The Montgomery referred to on the jug is Richard Montgomery, the Irish-born Major General in the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War, killed in 1775 during the failed invasion of Canada. Warren is Dr Joseph Warren, also killed in 1775 and then martyred for the Revolutionary Cause.

Darker jodphurs - lacing 3 buttons at right hip, have some greasemarks/soiling to lower legs from wear. Lighter jodphurs - have some greasemarks/soiling to lower legs.

An interesting oak framed photograph from 1913 of the football team for 119th Battery, Royal Field Artillery. To the centre of the photo wearing the floppy hat is 2nd Lieutenant FHN Davidson who was awarded the Military Cross & Bar the Distinguished Service order and was mentioned in Despatches 4 times during WW1 he then remained in the Army and was promoted to Major General upon becoming Director of Military Intelligence during WW2 there is also a brief history of each of the other soldiers in the photo 59 x 51cms

A CHINESE GREY POTTERY OVOID VASE with a flared neck above the broad body, probably Zhou Dynasty, 7.5" high Provenance: The collection of Rev. Maj. Stanfield (b.1920). Excavated by him in She Li Po near Sian on 26th August 1945. Rev. Maj. Stanfield was second in command of the Special Operations Executive Signals in China during WWII. He was responsible for signing on behalf of the British Army on 10th October 1945 in Peking when the Japanese surrendered.
Resistance and fighter ace signed RAFES 22 cover. Pat Cheramy, an English lady and pre-war golfer, who became on of the bravest women in the French Resistance Movement Signed The Pat O’Leary Line FDC. Her French husband, Charles Cheramy, and she assisted over 200 airmen to evade capture. She was caught by the Gestapo and the inhumanity that she suffered: torture and a badly fractured skull, and 19 months in Ravensbrueck, in the condemned-to-die wing of the gas chamber and, when rescued by the US Army, her weight of 49 pounds or 22.3 Kg. The insert card is well-worth reading. Also signed by Wg Cdr F W Higginson a Battle of Britain pilot ace with 12 victories was assisted by the Cheramys. The insert card tells of his escape back to the UK it is well worth reading. Good condition. All signed items come with a Certificate of Authenticity and can be shipped worldwide.
