Indian Army. 91st Punjabis (Light Infantry) Officer’s pouch belt plate circa 1903-22. A fine die-stamped unmarked native silver example by P. Orr & Sons Ltd, of Madras and Rangoon. Within a crowned laurel wreath, mounted on the backing plate, crossed dhas set on a crowned strung bugle with “91” above and “Punjabis” scroll below. Four screw posts to reverse. The backing plate impressed “ORR”. VGC 31st Madras Light Infantry redesignated 31st Burma Light Infantry in 1901 and then as 91st Punjabis (Light Infantry) in 1903 following Kitchener’s reforms. Became 3rd Bn. 8th Punjab Regiment in 1922.

Hobnail Garter Star mounted crowned circlet resting an open laurel wreath with XXX at the base; to the centre, bi-part scroll “Burma Battalion” superimposed on the numeral “5”. The wreath resting in a tri-part scroll “Regiment Madras Infantry” which rests on a scroll inscribed “Afghanistan 1878-80”; the crown is flanked by scrolls “Ava” and “Burma”. Two screw posts to reverse. One or two ray tips AF, overall VGC. Became 90th Punjabis in the 1903 Kitchener reforms.
Indian Army. 130th PWO Baluchis Officer’s pouch belt plate circa 1903-06. A fine and scarce die-stamped silvered example. Within a laurel wreath surmounted by a crown on a blank tablet, a Maltese cross with ball finials to the tips, the top arm inscribed “China 1900”; to the centre, resting in a crescent inscribed “Baluchis”, “130 on a lined ground”. Four screw posts to reverse and complete with backing plate. Originally raised in 1858 by Major John Jacob; 30th Regiment (Jacob’s) Bombay Native Infantry or 3rd Belooch Regiment was redesignated 130th Jacob’s Baluchis in the 1903 Kitchener reforms. in 1906 the Prince of Wales became Colonel-in-Chief and the crown on pouch belt plates was replaced with Prince of Wales’s plumes.
Indian Army. 52nd Sikhs Officer’s pouch belt plate. A fine unmarked cast silver example, the backing plate bearing Birmingham hallmarks for 1912. Within a crowned laurel wreath, a quoit engraved “Sikhs” with “52” to the centre. Between the crown and quoit a scroll inscribed “Punjab”. Across the base of the wreath, a tri-part scroll below inscribed “Afghanistan 78-80” “Ahmed Khel” and “Kandahar 1880”. Below the wreath a scroll inscribed “Frontier Force”. Three screw posts to reverse. VGC 2nd Sikh Infantry became 52nd Sikhs in 1903 and 2nd Bn. 12th Frontier Force Regt. in 1922.
Indian Army. 1st Bombay European Regiment Victorian Officer’s shako plate mount circa 1839-44. A very fine rare example. Gilt plate mounted with cut silver star in turn mounted with gilt crowned Bath cross bearing laurel wreath and strap “Bombay European Regt” with gilt East India Company Lion to silver centre. The arms of the cross bear honours on the rim “Aden Kirkee Seringapatam Beni Boo Alli”; reverse retains four small lugs. Topmost star points AF otherwise VGC. Raised in 1661 in England to garrison Bombay; redesignated The Bombay Regiment on transfer to HEIC in 1668. Redesignated 1st Bombay (European) Regiment in 1839; for distinguished service redesignated Fusiliers in 1844 thus titled 1st Bombay (European) Fusiliers. Along with the entire HEIC army, it was transferred from the Company to the Crown on 1st November 1858 as a result of the Indian Mutiny during which the regiment served with distinction. Redesignated 103rd Royal Bombay Fusiliers in 1862. Following Cardwell’s reforms, the “Old Toughs” became 2nd Bn. Royal Dublin Fusiliers on Friday 1st July, 1881 whilst under the command of Colville Frankland.

Within the wreath a strap inscribed “Punjab Infantry”, “XXVII” mounted on the domed centre. Separately beneath the wreath, three scrolls inscribed “Ali Musjid” “Afghanistan 1878-80” and “Burmah 1885-87”. Screw posts to reverse. Generally VGC Redesignated 27th Punjabis under Kitchener’s 1903 reforms. Became 3rd Bn. 15th Punjab Regiment in 1922.

VGC Raised in 1826 as 3rd Regiment Nizam’s Cavalry and became 3rd Cavalry Hyderabad Contingent in 1854. 1890 they became the 3rd Lancers Hyderabad Contingent and were disbanded in 1903.

A fine scarce circular brass example mounted with silvered crossed lances with crown on intersection, “XX” between the butts, “Lancers” scroll across the butts. Single flat loop to reverse. VGC 20th Lancers formed in 1922 from 14th Murray’s Jat Lancers and 15th Lancers (Cureton’s Multanis).
24th (Post Office) Middlesex Rifle Volunteers post 1880 Victorian Officer’s pouch badge. A fine ornate die-stamped silvered example. Within a laurel wreath surmounted by an Imperial style Crown; a Maltese cross with balls to the tips and dragons between the arms. The top and bottom arms of the cross bear the three seaxes of Middlesex. The left and right arms bear the letter “T” surmounted by the Crown of HSH the Duke of Teck (Hon. Colonel of the regiment from 1880 until his death in 1900). Between the top arm of the cross and the Crown, a Bishop’s mitre; below the lower arm and the wreath, a strung bugle. To the centre of the cross, a circlet inscribed “Saint Martin’s le Grand” encircling a shield. Across the base of the wreath, a tri-part scroll inscribed “Post Office, XXIV Middlesex Rifle Regiment”. Three screw posts to reverse. VGC 49th Middlesex Rifle Volunteers formed at the General Post Office 13th February 1868; renumbered 24th in September 1880. 24th supplied personnel for the Army Post Office Corps for active service overseas. Three loops to reverse. VGC (Cox 2404) Redesignated 16th Rajputs (The Lucknow Regiment) under Kitchener’s 1903 reforms; then 10th Bn (The Lucknow Regiment), 7th Rajputs in 1922.

Raised in 1826 as 4th Regiment Nizam’s Cavalry and became 4th Cavalry Hyderabad Contingent in 1854. 1890 they became the 4th Lancers Hyderabad Contingent and in 1903 redesignated 30th Lancers (Gordon’s Horse).

GC Redesignated 22nd Sam Browne’s Cavalry (Frontier Force) n 1904 and amalgamated with 25th Cavalry in 1921

An extremely fine and rare die-stamped example by J&Co (Jennens) bearing Birmingham hallmarks on the obverse. Silver-gilt crowned strap inscribed “Marine Battalion” with “XXI” to the base. Canted silver fouled anchor to voided centre. Two loops to reverse (originally three) one being a period replacement. GC Raised as a Marine Battalion in 1777; 1818 redesignated 1st (Marine) Battalion, 11th Regiment of Bombay Native Infantry and in 1824 as 21st (Marine) Regiment of Bombay Native Infantry. Becoming 121st Pioneers in 1903 and 10th (Marine) Battalion, 2nd Bombay Pioneers in 1922. Disbanded 10 years later in 1832.

Became 10th (Training) Battalion of 16th Punjab Regiment in 1922.

A very fine and scarce three inch wide tan leather example mounted with rich gilt circular lion’s head boss, two strand chain, whistle and holder and plate viz. resting within a laurel wreath, a Maltese cross with ball finials to the tips and lions between the arms and surmounted by a Guelphic crown on blank tablet; to the centre of the cross “26” within a circlet inscribed “Baluchistan Regiment”. Honour scrolls to wreath of “Persia” and “Kooshab” with two further scrolls bearing laurel sprays. Together with tan pouch with gilt fittings, the face mounted with gilt Guelphic crowned laurel wreath with “26” to centre. VGC 1892 26th (Baluchistan) Regiment of Bombay Infantry; redesignated 26th (Baluchistan) Bombay Infantry in 1901 and then 126th Baluchistan Infantry in 1903.

Two and an eighth wide tan leather lined silver lace belt with central cream silk line mounted with silver plated floral edged buckle , tip and slide as well as lobed boss and chains securing two arrow prickers which a sheathed in holders mounted on hexagonal plate. Between the boss and plate, four separate honour scrolls “Carnatic” “Shoulinghur” “Mysore” “Seringapatam”. Some service wear and stitching faults. GC Became 27th Light Cavalry in 1903.
