Superb quality, with a lion head pommel, shagreen grip with wire twist decoration , shaped quillon with pointed lion's head. Leading to a thin single-edged single-fullered blade etched with ' Yzerhouwer '. Complete within its original steel scabbard. Total length approx; 97cm long.

Remnants of original paint present. Supplied with a related but original ' Soldat De La Grande Guerre ' (Soldier Of The Great War) pressed brass helmet plate, for fixing to the front brim (worn after the war by veterans of the French army).

A WWII Second World War medal group awarded to one 4209127 Private Leonard Lewis of the Army Air Corps. Lewis killed in action, 1944. The posthumous medal group comprising his War Medal, 1939-45 Star, Africa Star and Italy Star. All within their original issue box (addressed to his Mother), with ribbons and issue letter. The collection also includes x3 photographs from the Lewis family (one appearing to show Leonard), as well as a letter from the War Organisation which reads, in part; Dear Mr Lewis, I am so grieved for you to hear that the War report that your son Private Leonard Lewis...Army Air Corps... is now presumed killed in action at sea, and I should like to offer you the very deep sympathy of all in this Department for your sorrow... A poignant medal group.

Huntrods of Durham Light Infantry. One 20,000 foot scale map and a second larger scale map: St. Pol area. France Sheet 36B SW, edition 6, published by the Ordnance Survey 1916. Coded in the bottom l/h corner GS GS 2742. On folding linen on a scale of 1:20,000. Size 90 by 68 cm. A key includes roads, railways, footpaths, churches, chimneys, windmills etc. The map does not show trenches but an area just to the west of Arras. An unusually clear and crisp map. Original owner’s name and rank to front of map. The owner served in the Durham Light Infantry and the Northumberland Fusiliers., and was wounded in France. The second map of part of France: Senleques-Lottinghem area. France Sheet 36D Western Half. Published by the Printing Section, Depot FSC., RE. GHQ (1701). No date. Information in the bottom l/h corner states: This map is an enlargement from the French 1:80,000 its accuracy cannot be guaranteed. Scale 1:40,000. Size 58 by 51 cm. On folding linen. Includes villages to the west of Arras including Bourthes and Zoteux. Original owner’s name in ink to front cover. The owner served in the Durham Light Infantry and the Northumberland Fusiliers and was wounded in France. Rare named maps.

Retains the original eight-tongue leather liner. Appears to have had two welded repairs to the top and front, although these appear to be from the period. Rare helmet.

A rare post-WWI First World War named M23 (1923) pattern French army ' Adrian ' steel combat helmet. Good complete example, including the original liner and ' RF ' badge to front. Pressed from one piece of steel, with double rivets to sides. A soldier's initials can be seen scratched to the underside of the brim, although somewhat illegible. Rare inter-war period helmet - which was very likely used during WW2.

Code 2364 to bottom left corner. On folding linen size 88 by 66 cm. Scale 1.100,000. Key gives information on many geographical features and has an explanation of French names for them. A very detailed map. VG condition.World War One Map British Army Map Belgium sheet 12: Valenciennes with Cambrai. Published for the British General Staff Geographical Section by the Ordnance Survey, Southampton May 1915. Scale 1:100,000. On folding linen. Name and stamp of the RE 73rd Field Company to the front of the map. Some annotations to the margins including details of the advance of the 21st Division from August to November 1918 and of the enemy captured. Good to VG condition.

A 19th Century pattern USA United States of America American Civil War Model 1850 pattern US Army Staff & Field Infantry Officers sword having an oak leaf decorated pommel with black leather and wire grip, basket guard with US, scroll work and penny scroll. The steel blade having a slight curve with extensive engraving. Stamped US Iron Proof. Complete in the original brass and steel scabbard with twin fixing loops. Measures: 93cm, blade 80cm.
