William Arthur Smith Benson: a copper and brass electrolier, with "lotiform" ceiling rose, curved brass pendant support, with three copper leaf forms supporting copper coronas, with registration mark 386811, supporting three White Friars vaseline glass shades, with engraved registration number 290976 (slight chip to the finial of one glass shade), 30in. (76cms) high; the diameter of the ceiling rose is 19in. (48cms). NB Both registration numbers correspond to ones registered to WAS Benson. A wall light version of this fitting is shown as plate 115 in Ian Hammerton`s book on Benson.

A post 1902 RN Midshipman’s dirk, SE blade 18½”, by J R Gaunt & Son, late Edward Thurkle, 53 Conduit St, London W (the firm’s address 1906-18), etched with crowned fouled anchor, R Arms and motto within oak wreaths, scrolled panels, regulation brass hilt, acorn finial crossguard with crowned fouled anchor in wreath to centre, lion’s head pommel and backstrap, wirebound sharkskin grip, in its brass mounted leather scabbard with locking clip to hilt. GC (light pitting to blade edges)
An unusual elastic powered “pistol” c 1830, 17” overall, with dark rosewood stock having two brass lined holes at the front to take the elastic, flat steel slide and projectile carrier on the top which engages a crossbow type scear, conventional iron trigger guard and trigger, the butt with carved bulbous finial. A 12 bore flintlock fowling piece, by Ronalds (Canterbury) c 1800, 51½” overall, 3 stage barrel 36” with octagonal breech; flat stepped lock with swan neck cock, the plate engraved with maker’s name in script, walnut fullstock with sparsely engraved brass mounts, the trigger guard with acorn finial; replacement horn tipped ramrod. WO & basically GC (some wear and minor damage)
A Chinese Qing dynasty bronze censer, of shouldered round form with overall niello patterning, having a pair of stylised elephant head ring handles, the body dividing into three feet - reign marks to underside, together with a wooden cover pierced with scrolls and flowers having a carved brown jadeite finial (re-stuck), on wooden plinth, 11" across handles - an old paper label beneath wooden stand is inscribed `From the Emperor`s Palace, Pekin Boxer Rising 1900 - P.O.
