Bernard Cuzner. A silver spoon with hammered heart-shaped bowl and stem, the foliate intertwined finial (a/f) terminating in an amethyst cabochon. Maker's mark: BC (Bernard Cuzner), Birmingham, 1905. 30 grams. * Bernard Cuzner (1877-1956) teacher and designer from the early 1900s, he became Head of the Department of Metalwork at the Birmingham School of Art in 1910. He was influenced in his early career by Cattermole-Smith and Gaskin. He was also a designer for W.H. Haseler and Liberty from very early in his career, author of the "Silversmith's Manual" first published in 1935 and again in 1949 with numerous reprints and an important contributor to Arts and Crafts flatware.
