Three walking sticks or canes and a swordstick, comprising an early-mid 19thC hardwood gentleman 'boulevardier's' cane, with hole for wrist strap/cord and two gold plated shield-shaped escutcheons and faceted metal ferrule, the pommel with dark mother of pearl faceted panels, gold plated shoulders embossed with acanthus leaves, and mother of pearl disc finial, 91cm long; a bamboo cane swordstick, the unmarked and tarnished blade 40.5cm long, 88cm long; a hardwood cane finished in black with embossed silver pommel with R.N maker's mark and London hallmarks for 1889 and with metal ferrule, 91cm long; and a short light wood cane with silver plated pommel stamped 'WH' and silver collar engraved 'J.Jarratt', with 'WH' maker's mark and Birmingham hallmarks for 1912, with replaced ferrule, 78cm long. (4)CONDITION: Boulevardier's cane intact and sturdy with signs of wear to shaft, a patch of rubbing to plating on one shield, mother of pearl facets intact and original, wear and pitting to gold plating, and a loss to the bottom of the edge of the disc. Bamboo swordstick cane intact and sturdy with signs of use, blade tarnished but with original tip. Silver topped cane with signs of surface wear as expected, pommel loose and a little worn from use, but seemingly intact with no major dents or splits. A Thomas Harris & Son mahogany stick barometer, c1820, the silvered dial signed in script 'Thos Harris & Son, 52 Grt Russell Str, Bloomsbury' with thermometer and vernier, with scale for the barometer, glass mercury tube and reservoir cover intact, the body with broken pediment top with brass finial, and glazed hinged door to the rectangular dial, the stick with figured chevron pattern veneer, 99cm from base to top of finial.CONDITION: In original, unrestored condition. There appears to be no mercury in the tube, but the reservoir has not been checked. A loss to the left hand side of the stick about a third of the way up, as photographed. Thermometer intact. A large patch of loss to the silvered finish on the top left of the dial, and two further much smaller patches of loss to the right of this. Glass mercury tube appears to be intact, but the reservois cover has not been removed. Veneer intact with no losses, apart from a very few tiny areas. Would benefit from a clean. One chunk of wood missing from the back of the left hand side of the pediment, and one part of the stepped moulding missing from the inside of the left hand part of the pediment as photographed.ShippingWe are sorry but this lot cannot be shipped by our in-house packing and shipping department. Susie Cooper coffee set, Kestrel Shape, pattern 921 stylized floral sprays with silvered highlights, to include the coffee pot, 6 cans, 6 saucers, a milk jug and a sugar bowl (15). Generally in good condition with no obvious damage or restoration. Some surface wear, forming hairline to rear side of milk jug, slight graze to pot finial, possibly underglaze.Provenance: Part of a huge private collection of Susie Cooper which has been consigned by a family member of Susie's. This set was purchased from one of the major London auction houses back in the early 2000s, states the vendor.
