HANKINZAN; a Satsuma sake ewer/teapot, finely decorated with a band of children above a lower panel of butterflies, signed to base, length 11.5cm.Provenance: from a private Worcestershire collection.Additional InformationVery minor rubbing to the gilding but overall in excellent condition. The only point to note is the knop finial has a black band around the base where it connects to the lid of the teapot with gold dots on it. It is very difficult to see if this has been off and repaired but the black band seems somewhat out of context to the rest of the pot.
KAIZAN; a Japanese Satsuma small hexagonal jar and cover, the finial modelled as a rabbit above the body decorated with a procession raised on three scrolling feet, with elaborate painted mark to base, height 10.25cm.Provenance: from a private Worcestershire collection.Additional InformationMinor rubbing to the gilding and some light crazing, but overall in very good condition.
A Japanese Satsuma koro decorated with geisha to two panels and with further gilt detail throughout, the pierced lid with cockerel finial (af), on shaped foot with six character mark beneath Shimazu mon to base, height approx 19.5cm, and a further pair of hexagonal vases on spreading circular feet (both af), height 22cm, all on associated hardwood stands, please see condition report (3).Additional InformationThe head of the cockerel finial now lost with further chip to tail, there are hairline cracks to the lid and a chip to the rim interior, some of the gilding has been redone, crazed throughout, rubbing to the gilding, one of the vases has been broken into many pieces and very crudely reglued with gaps, may fall apart, completely broken, the other with spreading hairline cracks and probably restoration as well as heavy rubbing to the gilding.
