A Flemish full armour for a cuirassier, circa 1620-30 comprising close helmet, with fluted two-piece skull rear-swept to a scalloped washer retained by a slotted finial, fitted with large spirally fluted plume-holder at the nape of the neck, large neck-guard of a single lame front and rear, visor with a pair of vision slots (lifting peg missing), upper bevor pierced with a circular arrangement of heart-shaped breathes on each side and retained by a later hook, lower bevor pivoting on common bolts with the visor and upper bevor (gorget missing), breast-plate with a shallow medial ridge and flanged outwards at the base, skirt of seven scalloped lames, the upper lame embossed with a roped horizontal panel, matching back-plate carrying a strongly bombasted skirt of ten lames with an additional plate on each side at the base, the front skirt carrying a pair of tassets each of seventeen lames and incorporating a winged poleyn, associated greaves hinged on the outside and fitted with articulated sabatons of eight lames, a pair of full arm defences including large pauldrons, winged couters fully articulated over the inner joint of the elbow, a pair of fingered gauntlets (each with some finger lames missing), and decorated throughout with triple incised lines, the principal borders with finely roped turns and the secondary lames with scalloped edges (minor cracks and repairs, some lames now detached) Stand not included. This armour is of a notably high quality for the period.
