A George III mahogany secrétaire chest on chest, the broken pediment centred a pedestal with a later ribbed urn finial with pierced fretwork carving and a Greek key moulding, above a blind fretwork frieze and two short and three long graduated drawers, fitted with ribbon tied swag gilt brass handles, the secrétaire drawer fitted with pigeon holes and shaped drawers with barber`s pole stringing with a central mirrored cupboard door flanked by faux leather book secret pilaster compartments, with two further drawers and secret compartments, flanked by pierced fret carved canted angles, possibly later, and rusticated quoins, the base with three long graduated cedar lined drawers on ogee bracket feet, 224cm high, 123.2cm wide, 59.5cm deep. Provenance: The Baroness De Stempel, Heath House, Herefordshire. Sold by Christie`s, Fine English Furniture, Thursday 9th April 1992, lot 123, when purchased by the present vendor. The use of rustication, blind fretwork and ogee bracket feet point to a North Country origin. The design for the swagged handles feature in an article by N. Goodison, Metalwork Pattern Books, Furniture History, 1975, p.12, fig. 22.
A late 19th century continental amboyna and brass mounted jewellery casket, of sarcophagus form, the hinged lid with a young boy finial seated with a box to a plush lined interior, the body with female and male mask corners and handles to a base drawer, 27.8cm high, 31cm wide, 20cm deep. Provenance: The Dr Lawrie Webster Collection of Boxes.

Sheedy Series II, 15c (O9/R14 – this coin); Nicolet-Pierre, Naxos I 16; HGC 6, 624; BMC 4 (same obv. die); Nanteuil 997 = Weber 4860 (same obv. die). Near EF, toned, cleaning marks on obverse. Rare. Bust of the deified Ptolemy III right, wearing radiate diadem and aegis; trident over left shoulder, middle prong ends in a lotus finial / BASI?EOS ?TO?EMAIOY, radiate and filleted cornucopia; ?I below. Svoronos 1117; Olivier & Lorber 36–53, dies 3/7; SNG Copenhagen 196; Noeske 137; BMC 103 = GPCG pl. 34, 24 (same dies); Bement 1851 (same dies); Boston MFA 2283; Gulbenkian 1076; Jameson 1817; Kraay & Hirmer 803. Choice EF, lustrous, minor cleaning marks in field, tiny die break in field on obverse (typical for die). High relief, and without usual die rust in radiate crown.
A mid 18th century mourning sword, slender diamond section blade 28”, heavier and flattened section at hilt brass inlaid with stylized wreath in lined panels, darkened steel hilt with double shell guard, pas d’ane style rings, crossguard with tear drop finial, knucklebow with ringed centre section, prominent ball pommel, simulated wirebound grip with facetted Turks heads. A DB 18 bore sporting gun, c 1820, by Prosser (?), converted to percussion with new breeches, 49½” overall, barrels 34”, the flat locks engraved with fern tip border, sunbursts and flower sprays, walnut halfstock with engraved steel scrolled trigger guard with pineapple finial. GWO & QGC (one hammer detached but present) .
A 19th Century Mahogany cased Wheel Barometer A Taroni LLanelly, dry/damp dial (pointer missing), over central twin scale, replacement swan neck pediment, central urn finial, satin wood line inlaid case, 42” high Condition: Pediment later, hand missing from dry/damp, colour worn from frame around thermometer and bulb of tube broken, bezel around face lacking most of gilding, button below face held on by tape, also front has crack running between top dials and mirror also down from mirror to face.
