Aynsley Lane End, 26.5cm high, circa 1800 (finial restored) Note: George Frederick Handel's Oratorio Judas Maccabaeus was first performed at Covent Garden on 1st April 1747, the work being produced to commemorate the victory of Prince William Augustus, Duke of Cumberland over the Jacobites of Prince Charles Edward Stuart at the Battle of Culluden 16th April 1746. As Cumberland was representing his father George II against the Stuart threat it is possible the prints are Whiggish in nature and anti-Tory.
