A Vizagapatam miniature tabletop chess table, on a carved tripod base, 19 cm square, with a natural and stained ivory chess set See inside back cover colour illustration Condition report Report by GH Top surface generally good, with some very slight separation of chequer board pieces. Some light cracking to ivory border. One of the decorative nipples is off, but present. Also one nipple entirely missing from the frieze, and two broken in half. Tripod support - slightly wobbly where it connects to the table, and evidence of possible repairs with glue residue visible on to the three legs where they connect to the column. Overall presents very well. Associated pieces in very good condition with one pawn missing its finial, otherwise no apparent damage or restoration. One piece of pierced ivory decoration also missing from the lid of the box.

CONDITION REPORT: One urn has a bent finial and chips to the upper part, the bronze cover on the top is detached. The other has very minor chips, a couple of larger chips to the base.

A pair of Royal China Works Worcester vases with covers of baluster form, with gilt heightened flared rims and feet, hand painted with cattle, signed John Stinton, marked to base, no.788, height 29cm including finial of the cover (2). CONDITION REPORT: One finial of the cover is chipped to the top, the other cover has a significant chip to the rim and rubbing to the top of the finial, apart from minor rubbing to the gilt, appears good with no obvious signs of faults, damage or restoration.

An early 20th century whale tooth carved with a standing nude, raised on square resin base to bone feet, height 17cm and a turned sectional ivory back scratcher with silver mounts, London 1931, the finial modelled as a hand, length 36cm (2). CONDITION REPORT: The back scratcher has several splits and the very end of the handle appears to be bone, the main stem is ivory, also there are splits to the lower part of the stem and a few cracks to the lower part of the carved hand.

Lot 1306

An unusual Victorian electroplated mug with detachable lid and with hinged fastener surmounted with turned ivory finial, with loop handle with an internal pipe leading to the inside lowered bottom, raised on four outswept legs decorated with scrolls and acanthus leaves, with lozenge mark and makers mark "F Brs" to the base, height 16.5cm. CONDITION REPORT: Inside the cup there is a pipe which appears to be an elongation of the handle, also the end of the handle has a hole so may have been used as a straw. Rubbing to predominantly to handle and tarnished throughout. With waterproof ink pen mark to the lid.
