Caucase region possibly Chechnia or Dagestan, Ca. 1800-1900 AD.A beautiful example of a steel kama kindjal dagger featuring a long, double-edged pointed blade with three central fullers. The characteristic hilt and pommel are embellished with nielloed silver panels of foliate designs and two raised bosses decorated with ropework. The piece is accompanied by a scabbard overlaid with similar nielloed silver decoration, terminating in a chape with a sphere finial. A Victorian mahogany cheval mirror, mid 19th century, the tall rectangular bevelled plate in a frame with fretwork surmount and set on two twist column supports and set on a sledge base, 190cm high, 72cm wide Condition report The cheval glass is in generally good condition, the very top of the finial has been broken and repaired. The plateau base has a split in the surface veneer on the top. It’s sound and will support the mirror, and does not really detract. There is a small missing section of veneer to the back of the base 2cm or so. Plate looks fine, slight discolouration of the ‘silvering’ to its back, but the glass will be fine with a clean. It has been in a fairly disorganised house for some years and needs a good clean. Base might be improved with replacing small veneer losses and light restoration.
