Of Regimental interest: A Victoria silver peg tankard for the Scots Greys, the lid engraved with thistle within a motto-bearing garter and with a Waterloo guidon finial thumbpiece. on outset ball and claw feet attached with foliage cut-card work, London 1883, by Aldwinckle & Slater and retailed by Elkington & Co., height 23.5cm. £1,500-£1,800 --- The Scots Greys (correctly: Royal North British Dragoons) are perhaps best remembered for the part they played at the Battle of Waterloo. Charging alongside the heavy cavalry (considered by some to be the turning point of the battle) they suffered severe losses (including 228 of 416 horses). however, the remnant retreated, re-formed, continued in action and, after victory was declared, pursued the retreating French until Napoleon was finally forced to surrender. Condition Report Weight 37oz, 1150 gm. Good condition.

The classical figures slightly marked. The other example with restoration to the lid (glued and repaired). Both handles and one knop with discolouration and light discolouration to stone bodies. Stand sturdy on their feet when on a flat surface but both screws a little loose causing very slight wobble. Overall they are in moderate aesthetic condition, structurally stable and ready for placement.
