A rare Charles II striking lantern clock of long duration, the 6.5 inch chapter ring signed in the tulip engraved centre John Flint, Mansfield, central rosette, steel hand, pierced and engraved dolphin frets, the movement converted from balance wheel to verge escapement, both trains with large barrels (now with nylon rope), in a posted frame case of typical construction surmounted by the bell and urn finial, c. 1680, 16.5in (42cm) high. Provenance: A private collection in the Cotswolds.
A Royal Worcester Porcelain Pheasant Vase and Cover, James Stinton, 1904, of baluster form, with acanthus sheathed pointed finial to the domed cover, short pierced neck, satyr side handles linked by drapes, painted on one side with a cock and hen pheasant in a woodland glade, signed Jas Stinton, on the other with a woodland vignette, on a gadrooned circular foot, crown and wheel mark in puce, shape 1407, 37.5cm high overall Cover - very badly damaged, knop has been broken off and crudely reglued. The rim of the cover is broken into numerous pieces and has been badly put back together with discoloured filler etc. Vase - some of the raised mouldings have been rubbed of their gilding. Other vase has some large chips to the lid, and a crack to lid. Both vases have some wear, scuffs and firing faults and blemishes.
An RAF dress sword in the manner of Wilkinsons of Pall Mall, the engraved fullered blade with shagreen and wirework grip, the pierced brass knuckle guard with RAF insignia, the handle with eagles head finial, 96 cm long overall, housed in a brass mounted leather scabbard, together with a black leatherette outer scabbard bearing label inscribed "Flight. Lieut. E H Fielden" crossed out to read "Wing Commander", and another label inscribed "HRH The Duke of Kent, K.G. Wing Commander E H Fielden ..." (Provenance : Air Vice Marshall Sir Edward "Mouse" Fielden GCVO, CB, DFC, AFC [deceased], personal pilot to Edward VIII when Prince of Wales, Chief Air Pilot and Extra Equerry, then Captain of the King's Flight/Queen's Flight - for further information please contact the Auctioneers) CONDITION REPORTS Outer black cover with chamois interior is quite worn and creased and has replacement strap, and some small tears, bears "HRH The Duke of Kent KG" label with ink inscription verso "EHF's sword cover hanging in Fr. Hall", and inscribed in pen "Wing Commander Fielden" and a label stamped "Flight.Lieut H Fielden", and written in ink "Wing Commander". Scabbard has had some repairs and inserted sections (please see photos), and has wear and scuffs. Sword : the very tip is bent over, blade generally with some light wear and scuffs, grip and knuckle guard with some general wear and scuffs, some of the wirework has moved/is coming loose, some slight tarnish.
A Victorian malacca and silver mounted cane sword stick with plain silver handle (maker's mark indistinct, London, 1896), the engraved ferule inscribed "F G Cuss", 84.5 cm long CONDITION REPORTS The cane is split nearly all the way through the bottom half. There is a chunk missing near the engraved finial which has been refilled. Flaking all over. The engraved finial has wear to the initials especially the knob handle has various dents. Whilst the top section has movement - we have been unable to open it to see the sword.
A 19th Century porcelain plaque in the manner of Sevres, depicting Napoleon Bonaparte death mask, housed in a pierced gilt frame with crown above letter "N", scrolling down to an eagle finial, raised on a blue velvet base, bears label verso inscribed "Head of Napoleon I. taken after death and..... by Madame Jacotot, on Sevres porcelain of which copies were made in engraved gilt metal open work .....", 13.5 cm x 9.6 cm CONDITION REPORTS Overall with some wear, scuffs and scratches. Various firing deposits and pitting. Surface of plaque has two quite pronounced areas of scratching/scraping where it appears some firing deposits/blemishes may have been crudely removed. Velvet may be a later replacement. Unable to inspect back of plaque as sealed within its frame and with metal back plate.
