AN EARLY GEORGE III CARVED URN FINIAL ATTRIBUTED TO JAMES GIBBS, CIRCA 1760-1780 Possibly the finial to a bookcase, carved and stained softwood- probably fruit wood 23cm high, base 7cm wide This urn shows close similarities with Gibbs' designs published in "A Book Of Architecture, Containing Designs Of Buildings And Ornaments", London 1728. A Coalport cabaret service, circa 1835, comprising teapot and cover, cream jug and twin-handled sucrier, with a tray, pattern 3/180, mock sevres-style mark, tray 40cm wide (crack to foot of tray)Condition:Tray - there is a firing crack to the base, which has extended into a hairline. There is also a small nibble on the edge of the foot.Sucrier - there is a firing crack around the finial on the cover.The teapot and sucrier both have crazing to the glaze with some very slight yellowing.The end of the teapot spout is restored.Interestingly, the cream jug and tray have green decoration under the glaze, but the teapot and sucrier have decoration over the glaze, in a slightly lighter shade of green. In our opinion, both types are Coalport. The overglaze pieces have some scratches to the green ground.

The tray is also crazed.One saucer and the tea bowl with some crazing to the undersides. The coffee pot with some crazing to the spout, the lower portion of the body and the handle. The coffee pot's finial has been reattached professionally and the tip of the spout has a small amount of further professional restoration.
