A rare early 19th century Coalport Royal Commemorative pedestal tureen, cover and stand: in the Empire style with lion finial and eagle handles, probably decorated in the workshops of Thomas Baxter in polychrome and gilt, the tureen with a baby, a cherub holding a crown and another holding a garland, a gilt `G.R`. cypher above, the rim with Prince of Wales feathers in gilt, the stand and cover with further Prince of Wales feathers and trophies, 17 cm wide [some damage and wear to gilt]. * In 1816 Charlotte, Princess of Wales and second in line to the throne, was married to Prince Leopold of Saxe-Coburg and in the Spring of 1817 she became pregnant. It is possible that the present lot was produced to commemorate the forthcoming birth but sadly the child was stillborn and on 6th November 1817 Princess Charlotte died.
P. Caminda, a mahogany stick barometer: the silvered dial engraved with typical gauge, maker`s name P. Caminda, Taunton and set with a thermometer to the side, with a glazed hinged door, the mahogany case with a visible tube, crossbanding to the sides, a turned cistern to the base and an architectural pediment with a turned brass finial to the centre, height: 97cm. * Peter Caminda is recorded as working in the High Street, Taunton from circa 1820 until at least 1845.

Monumental Carved Chinese White Jade Censer, Qing. Important and Monumental White Jade Censer, Qing 1644-1911) Description: Tripod censer of unusually large proportions. Finial a lion, ribbon and ball motif in elaborate openwork carving. Lid and body decorated with an archaic motif, handles carved with animal heads and hanging rings. Each handle as a lion with curled tufts of hair extending broadly towards the body, giving the handles a broad presence. The stone of white or pale celadon color. Large spinach green jade stand, carved with a ribbed design. Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). Censer 12" across handles, on stand 11 1/2" H. Provenance: -Private Collector (letter of Provenance included) -Personal Collection of Mr Simon Kriger. Notes: Simon Kriger b. 1900 in the Russian ÈmigrÈ community in Harbin, China and lived as an investment banker in the French Concession of Shanghai until political events lead him to move to America with his family. Residing in Washington D.C. from 1938 onwards he founded ìThe Asian Cultural Exchange Foundationî an organization who`s focus was to promote cultural exchange between Asia and the United States. He was known to the Freer and Smithsonian Collections having donated objects and is also noted for owning and lending for exhibition an 83 foot scroll painting by artist ìLang Shi Ningî (Giuseppe Castiglione). Kriger exhibited items from his personal collection at various Universities. Simon Kriger had a distinguished shop specializing in Asian art only steps from the White House in Washington D.C. A special few were invited to the second floor to see his ìJade Vaultî where he kept his most prized jades. The present censer remained in Mr. Kriger`s possession until it was acquired by Mr. S. A. in 1970s (letter of provenance included with lot) Although other jade censers such as this are known, this appears to be the largest in size to come to market for sale publicly. A collection of Susie Cooper tea wares decorated with "Wild Strawberry" pattern to include teapot, cups and saucers, plates and milk jug, together with a collection of Susie Cooper soup bowls and saucers decorated in moss green and brown on a cream ground, a Royal Doulton "Malvern" pattern coffee pot and coffee cups and a collection of Grosvenor china teawares CONDITION REPORTS All in used and worn condition, and some with damage and losses including teapot lid broken in half and crudely re-glued, a purple cup broken, etc. The soup bowls are very dirty and one has a crack to the handle, but otherwise soup bowls appear ok. The Susie Cooper teapot is quite small - approx 12cm high including lid and finial.
A 20th Century constructed mahogany longcase clock in the George II style, with an eight-day movement striking on a bell, the hood with a blind fretwork panel over pilaster supports enclosing the 12 inch broken arch brass dial with subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture, bearing an earlier silvered chapter ring signed Richard Penny, London, height 245cm (excluding top finial).

A Third Reich Artillery officer’s sword, by Eickhorn, plated blade 33½”, the gilt stirrup hilt with lion’s head pommel with red glass eyes, lions head finial to quillon, crossed cannon on the langet, and with wire bound black plastic covered grip, in its black painted scabbard with portepee. A scarce French 20 bore officers’ Model 1740-1750 Gendarmerie de France flintlock holster pistol, 18½” overall, barrel 11¾” with top flat and octagonal breech; stepped lock with flat swan neck cock and squared pan with unbridled frizzen, the plate with engraved decoration and name “La Chai-- Paris”; fullstocked with steel trigger guard, ramrod pipes and long spurred butt cap with silver grotesque mask finial, and with openwork silver sideplate incorporating laureate bust, and silver escutcheon surmounted by coronet and incorporating military trophies. A mid 18th century German hunting sword, SE shallow fullered blade 21½”, with narrow back fuller, DE at point, 11 line German inscription in panel on one side at forte and traces of etching in panels overall, all brass hilt, the turn down shell guard bearing a scene in high relief of maiden and nymph bewailing a dead hero, cherub head finial to crossguard and cherub panels to centre of knucklebow, cap shaped pommel embossed with squirrels and busts of bewigged gentlemen, shallow pistol shaped grip engraved with stylized flowers in panels. Basically GC for age (wear and some heavy pitting patches to blade). Plate 6
