A Dihl Paris Cup, Cover and Stand, c.1800, painted in Empire style in black and gold with classical figures, the sides with Egyptianesque gilt biscuit masks, underglaze blue mark, considerable damage, 19cm (3) Probably by, or a follower of, Charles-Jean Avisseau who was one of a family of potters making 'bestiaire fantastique' in Tours in the 19th century. Crack running the whole way down, across and back up the cup. Large chip to rim of cup. One piece present, but still leaves gaps. Other small chips and general wear.
