A FINE CASED PAIR OF 25-BORE FLINTLOCK DUELLING PISTOLS by Thomason & Jones, early 19th century, each 15 1/2in. overall, with browned twist octagonal barrels, silver fore-sights, recessed breeches each with gold-inlaid line, gold-lined maker's stamp, and platinum-lined touch hole, engraved tangs each incorporating the rear-sight, signed flat border engraved detented locks each decorated with a martial trophy and a sunburst, and with safety-catch, 'French' cock, rain-proof pan, and roller, set triggers, figured walnut half-stocks (minor blemishes) each with chequered butt, engraved iron mounts including trigger-guard with pineapple finial, silver escutcheons each engraved with a crest, silver barrel-bolt escutcheons and fore-end caps, and iron-tipped ramrods, Birmingham proof marks, the underside of the barrels struck with Irish registration mark of King's County, in original lined and fitted mahogany case with three-way pistol-flask and cleaning rod, the lid with label bearing a coat of arms and motto, the exterior with white metal oval escutcheon engraved with a further coat of arms. Footnote: The arms are that of Lord Scarsdale of Kedleston Hall.
A CASED PAIR OF FRENCH 80-BORE PERCUSSION TARGET PISTOLS by A. Brun, Arquebusier, 110 Rue de Rivoli, Paris, third quarter of the 19th century, each 16 1/2in. overall, with blued octagonal sighted rifled barrels signed in full towards the breech, border engraved case-hardened breeches, tangs each incorporating the rear-sight, and detented locks, half-stocks each carved with foliage on the fore-end and with fluted butt, border engraved case-hardened mounts including spurred trigger-guards and faceted pommels each with blued finial, and nearly all their original finish, in original lined and fitted mahogany case with accessories including bullet mould, the lid with maker's details in gold lettering, the exterior with brass shield-shaped escutcheon. These pistols appear to be very little used.
A RARE CASED 18-BORE DOUBLE-BARRELLED FLINTLOCK SPORTING GUN by John Bass, London, circa 1791-4, with 33 3/4in. rebrowned twist barrels signed in gold towards the breech, each barrel with gold breech-line and gold-lined touch-hole, silver fore-sight, grooved tang engraved with foliage inhabited by a bird, signed flat bevelled locks each with stepped tail, gold-lined semi-rainproof pan and roller, one pan-cover also gold-lined, the top-jaws (one jaw and jaw-screw replaced) each with a collar giving a longer bearing for the jaw-screw, walnut half-stock originally fitted with a cheek-pad, chequered grip, engraved iron mounts including signed trigger-guard decorated with a dog and a bird and with large pineapple finial, silver barrel-bolt escutcheons, and later brass-mounted ramrod with worm, London proof marks, in fitted mahogany case, probably original, lined in green baize and with some accessories including shot charger, the lid with flush-fitting carrying handle (some light pitting to barrels, some wear and discolouration to iron parts). Footnote: The cocks are attached to the tumblers by a nut with an additional screw passing through the tumbler from the inside and screwing into the base of the cock, a method peculiar to Bass.

GREENER 12-BORE SIDELOCK EJECTOR, serial no. 61810, 29 3/4in. nitro barrels, scroll-engraved at the breech-ends, 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and full choke, treble-grip action with arcaded fences, gold-inlaid cocking-indicators, best beaded border and fine scroll engraving (some wear), brushed bright and reblued finish, 15in. figured stock with ornate chequering, fore-end with Deeley and Edge release catch and horn finial, weight 7lbs.

19th Century Svres porcelain and ormolu mounted urn-shaped Vase and Cover, with pineapple finial, with twin mask handles and pierced rim above a cartouche, painted with a courting scene, within a border of gilt and raised enamelled pearls, the reverse painted with roses and other summer flowers, flared ormolu pedestal, cast with a wreath and on a square base with concaved corners, 30cms, (12"), (cover restored).
