A Large Exhibition Type Longcase or 'Grandfather' Clock with a three train movement on eight chiming bells, supported by three large brass weights of varying sizes, playing Westminster and Whittington chimes. Subsidiary dials to the arched brass dial with silent and chimes display dial; the brass dial fitted with cast ormolu mounts to back corner, silvered chapter rings to the dial, maker or retailers name to the face, Thomas Armstrong and brothers, Manchester. Impressive mahogany case profusely inlaid with satinwood and various coloured exotic woods, with an Adams type urn to the central panel of the door; inlaid swags to the base, supported by shaped bracket feet. The hood with finely carved rosette roundels to the scrolls, with a central finial, fret work sides to the hood and finely matched Corinthian columns with capitals to both the case trunk and hood, 90'' high, 18'' wide, 12'' deep.

Basically GC (lock has been pitted and cleaned, stock has been wormed, filled, and refinished) Plate 29 .

Pearce”, and with 12” top spring bayonet released by catch on the breech tang; signed scroll engraved back action lock; walnut fullstock with scroll engraved brass mounts, the trigger guard with pineapple finial, and with replacement steel ramrod. An extremely rare combination flintlock blunderbuss carbine/ pistol/ gun/ walking stick, c 1760, the frame, breech and trigger guard with acorn finial of tutenag (German silver) engraved with scrolls and foliage, signed “London”, with sliding safety catch in front of the trigger guard, and with Birmingham private proofs; the detachable shoulder stock for use either with the 6” steel blunderbuss “cannon” barrel or the 32½” smooth bore gun barrel, breech and gun barrels having interrupted threads for rapid attachment or removal; the small ball pistol butt when screwed into the gun barrel forms the handle of the walking stick, for which purpose there is a push in metal muzzle plug which forms the end. Good Working Order and Condition. Note: this is the actual piece illustrated in “Blunderbusses” by Baxter, published by the Arms and Armour Press in 1970, plates 55 and 56. Plate 22
A 19th Century Folding Parasol, the cover made of extremely fine Bedford Maltese lace, insertion panels with raised wheatears enclosing triangular panels worked in squares. A scalloped border features circles alternating with ovals filled with wheatears. Lined in modern dark ginger fabric which offsets the design. The lower section of the ivory shaft is carved with sheaves of corn, and flowers. Overall length 230inches or 59cm, cover from top to scalloped edge approx. 12 inches or 30.5cm CONDITION REPORT: . slight chip to the top of the turned finial.
A Pretty 19th Century Folding Parasol with tape lace cover, relined recently, the lower shaft of ivory, carved with flowerheads within delicate lattice, the bulbous end unusually can be screwed off. The brass metal slider is marked with the name "VERDIER". Height 23 inches or 58.5cm, cover 11 inches or 28cm. Together with a folding and slightly tilting parasol, the lower shaft of ivory with three carved panels, and a curved end. Replacement cover trimmed with black handmade bobbin lace. Embossed gold metal slider. Overall length 23 inches or 59cm (2) CONDITION REPORT: . For the first parasol, the frame and lace cover are in good order. Crude replacement finial and the two lining layers (mustard, then cream inside), are of modern fabric. The second parasol lacks a finial.
A Large Early 20th Century Embroidered Cream Summer Parasol, opening to be quite flat, similar to the 20's Chinese paper parasols, and really quite heavy. Unlined, the cover is made from a very delicately embroidered cotton lawn. The finial is a mix of ivory and pale wood, the same wood used for the upper shaft, the lower shaft and curved handle being of carved ivory, the handle featuring four faces and a cat's head. Overall length 24.75 inches or 63cm, the cover depth 15.25 inches or 39cm. Together with a parasol for a child or large doll, the cream cover of knitted lace with looped edges, the lining a modern replacement. The upper shaft is silver metal, below which a pale wood leads to an ivory end; and a part parasol, a/f, marked in the metal of the upper shaft (3) CONDITION REPORT: . First parasol is strong, no splitting, some slight rust marking here and there, very useable. Hard to determine the date of the second parasol but unlikely to be present day with the ivory. The shaft is perhaps a little weak as cotton thread has been wound around the middle section.
A 19th Century Brussels Bobbin Lace Parasol, the lower shaft of carved bone finishing in a loop. The scalloped lace cover features eight sections, each containing a floral spray, divided from the edging of flowers and leaves by a delicate swag. Overall height 20.5 inches or 52cm. Cover depth max 11.5 inches or 29cm. Please see condition report. Together with a folding ivory parasol, recovered with modern cream fabric, the lower shaft section deeply carved with entwined flowers and leaves. Overall length 24 inches or 61cm; a third 19th century folding parasol, covered in black lace, probably machine, the strong design featuring regular columns and large leaves. Lined in green silk. The ivory finial and lower shaft are lightly carved. Overall height 23.5 inches or 59.5cm (3) CONDITION REPORT: . The Brussels parasol has been reassembled with a modern lining, during which the lace cover has been re-secured inside out. There are several small holes in the net ground. A crack is evident half way up the bone shaft section, notwithstanding this it appears serviceable. The second parasol was purchased for the carving.
An Elegant Mid-19th Century Ivory Folding Parasol, the good black Chantilly lace cover with scalloped edge attractively overhanging the cream lining. Designed with central meandering stems and leaves, the cover features eight floral sprays leading to ovals and swags, with flowers and leaves to the border. The lower shaft carving features 5 narrow bands and a bulbous end in four segments. The finial has a small ring for ribbon or other decoration. Height 24.75 inches or 63cm. Cover depth 12.75 inches or 32.5cm. Together with a second mid-19th century folding parasol, the upper shaft of light wood, the ivory lower section quite simply carved. The lace cover, which has been re-lined, would most likely fit a larger frame, but has been elegantly gathered at the crown. The design, of large roses above smaller flower clusters, finishes in a scalloped edge, large flowers alternating with leaves (2) CONDITION REPORT: . First parasol, please note a slight curve to the lower, ivory shaft. The upper shaft is pale wood. An odd tiny hole noted in the net ground. Replacement lining is strong. The second parasol is lined in a strong mustard to set off the design, with a further black lining within. One split in the net noted up next to the top of the crown, and two or three on the border. Otherwise the cover feels crisp and sound.
An Attractive Irish Crochet Lace Folding Parasol, post 1860, the carved lower shaft slightly grainy, most likely bone, the finial and shaft end with loops, and carved to complement the flowers entwined on the handle. The cream cover is of handmade crochet, designed with a frill. The cover is lined with pale lilac silk, itself then lined with cream silk, both with scalloped edges. The ribs and slider are metal, the upper shaft appears to be wood painted cream. Overall length 23.5 inches or 59.5cm. Depth of lace cover 14.5 inches or 37cm CONDITION REPORT: . Lace in good order, the cream silk lining layer is just starting to split.
A Rare Parasol with Beaded Cover, circa 1850's, the shaft of tan wood, the ribs of metal, the finial and cap ivory. Lined and finished with tiered and ruched cream silk, the edges scalloped, the cover, with a very English design of oak leaves, is itself lined in cream silk. The tiny beading is worked with a quite opaque, shiny background, and a regular, quite geometric design as border decoration, inside of which meander oak leaves in various shades of green and black. Length from tip to end of shaft 25.25 inches or 64cm. Cover depth 11 inches or 28cm to include the silk. Not a folding carriage parasol CONDITION REPORT: . : Beadwork in very good condition and with good, good colour. The very end of the shaft is missing. The secondary lining of cream silk is shattered.
