A pair of Chinese blue and white vases and covers, late 19th century, the covers with dog of fo finials, the vases decorated with opposing dragons facing a pearl amongst clouds, with four character Kangxi mark to underside, and a Chinese blue and white prunus pattern sleeve vase, pseudo four character Kangxi marks to the underside. 30.5 cm and 29.5 cm respectively. CONDITION REPORT: One cover has a 1 cm rim chip, the other cover dog of fo finial has been broken off and glued. Both vases have large sections of the neck broken and glued. One vase has a small section of the neck missing. One vase has a shoulder to centre body circumferal crack, the other vase has a 6 cm internal hairline crack. The accompanying sleeve vase has a ¾ length hairline crack.

A steel theatrical helmet with face mask comprising a broad bowl and central spike with bulb finial, band of calligraphic text to the shoulder, ventail to the stepped rim; hinged bracket to the brow attaching a domed triangular mask with raised brows, nose and moustache, incised foliage and tendril ornament and text to the forehead, applied upper band with dentilled edge and crescent below. 1.6 kg, 44cm (17 1/4"). A silver patera with deep bowl and rolled rim, flat base and impressed bosses to the body; flat-section handle with raised palmettes; scrolls and flowers to the junction with two stork-heads resting on the edge of the bowl, the finial with two swan-heads flanking a central scallop-shell; concentric circles with central annulet to the base. 163 grams, 17.5cm (7"). Property of a European businessman; from his private Belgian collection formed in the 1990s; previously in a North American collection formed in Illinois in the 1980s. Very fine condition.
12th-10th century BC. A bronze Troy type sword or rapier blade, leaf-shaped in plan; the midrib extending to the short tang with curved lateral extensions to the shoulders, tang with flattened finial to accept the hilt. Cf. Branigan, K. Aegean Metalwork of the Early and Middle Bronze Age, Oxford, 1974, plate 11, item 483 ascribed to Troy (Anatolian Troad"). 465 grams, 57.5cm (22 3/4"). Later 5th century AD. A parcel-gilt silver radiate-headed bow brooch comprising: a D-shaped headplate with recess and raised scroll motifs, seven radiating knops with inset garnet cabochons, the outer ones with bird-head detailing, raised band to the border with punched triangles; deep bow of stepped profile with band of punched triangles; lozengiform footplate with pairs of lateral profile bird-heads with inset garnet cabochons and raised scrolls to the panel, beast-head finial with inset garnet cabochons; pierced lugs and catch to the reverse.
