AN UNUSUAL HEAVY CAVALRY OFFICERS SWORD. The sword with an 80cm double edged pointed blade with central fuller, the handle with decorative ivory grip in a 'five bead' pattern guard with side ring and high urn finial, in a leather scabbard with steel mounts. There was a 1796 pattern dress or dismounted service sword and it has been suggested that this is the equivalent for the 1788 pattern heavy cavalry sword. 102cm overall.

GEORG FREDERIK BIEHL - A Southern Jutland Empire silver vinaigrette, Sonderborg, hexagonal vase form and partially gilt with rose-cut glass stones and rosette finial with base balsam container, height 13cm, 3.9oz All glass stones present with slightly rubbed facet edges and a few have large surface chips and cracks, one silver handle fold is detached from the main body, there is some solder evident around the base of the stem as well as inside the balsam base, gilding is slightly faded in places, vase is slightly slanted on a flat surface, both hinges working marks clear.

Slender haft of quadrangular section with engraved décor. Long, hollow-forged grip with black leather cover above cord wrap. Domed, swivelling guard disc, underneath it an elongated compartment, presumably for a missing cutlery set. Length 57 cm.Condition: II

A GLAZED POTTERY SHRINE OR ORNAMENT, BURMA, EARLY 20TH CENTURY honey glazed slip decorated red earthenware, depicting two devotees flanking an altar, on an elaborate raised plinth, a scrolling openwork finial at the back 39cm high Provenance: Private Collection, London, acquired about 60 years ago Although Burma is better known for other crafts, such as wood and stone sculpture, lacquer, metalwork and painting, glazed pottery figural tilework was produced in Pegu in the 15th century, an example of which is in the Victoria and Albert Museum (IS 2 1966), as well as a later example thought to date from the early 19th century (04160A IS). This lot was probably produced during the late colonial period for the British market.
