Der Arm, mit dem die Frau ihren Kopf stützt, wurde perspektivisch verkürzt wiedergegeben und gleichzeitig flächig projiziert, wobei der Unterarm und die Hand einen rechten Winkel bilden. Gemeinsam mit dem dreieckig zusammengefassten Kopf und dem rechtwinkligen Ausschnitt des Gewandes ergibt sich ein streng-geometrisches Flächengebilde. (...) Noch befindet Klimt sich hier in der Phase seines geometrisch-orientierten Goldenen Stils, von dem er sich bald darauf verabschieden wird. Josef Engelhart führte die verbliebenen Künstler an. Diese hatten eine konservativere Einstellung als die Klimt-Gruppe und wurden als Naturalisten bezeichnet. Zu ihnen gehörte auch Friedrich König, der für seine stimmungsvollen Landschaften und figuralen Szenen, die oft mythologische Inhalte hatten, geschätzt wurde. Vorliegende Arbeit war im österreichischen Pavillon bei der internationalen Kunstausstellung in Rom 1911 ausgestellt. Dargestellt sind zwei Jägerinnen mit drei Hunden, bewaffnet sind die jugendlichen Frauen mit Pfeil und Bogen beziehungsweise mit einem Speer. Die beiden Frauengestalten befinden sich auf einer Wiese vor einem Laubwald, dessen Blätter sich bereits in herbstlicher Goldfärbung zeigen und an die Landschaften Gustav Klimts erinnern. Königs feine Malerei in oft pastosen Farbtönen hat Josef Engelhart folgendermaßen beschrieben: "Der Beschauer, der vor die Werke Friedrich Königs tritt, fühlt sofort, dass hier ein tief innerlicher Künstler zu ihm spricht, ein Maler, der der Natur mit fast frauenhafter Zartheit nachspürt, ein Dichter, dem Stift und Pinsel die Mittel sind, seine Träume zu schildern."(Monika Schweighofer)

A later replacement shank with split shoulders to a plain shank, with ridged detail at the shoulders and the base. Tested as approximately 9ct gold and sterling silver.
