The history of the Sportster in the Harley Davidson range can be traced back to the introduction of the side valve K series machines introduced in 1952. Intended to compete with the overhead valve 500cc British machines on both the track and the road, the new models were considerably lighter than their overhead valve brothers. The next major step in the evolution of the range came in 1957 when the overhead valve 883cc XL series of machines was introduced to be joined at the beginning of the 1970's by a larger capacity variant initially displacing 997cc. Whilst the 883cc engine size would remain a constant, continuing to this day, the larger variant would undergo two further increases in capacity, the first coming in 1986 with the introduction of the Evo 1100cc the second in 1988 when the 1200cc engine was adopted. Throughout production the Sportster, in both capacities, has retained its slim, stripped down appearance, with the 883 proving to be particularly popular with riders purchasing their first Harley. This iconic motorcycle is presented in metallic grey and has only covered a mere 9,940 miles from new. The present owner had the bike fully recommissioned in 2020 which included a new drivebelt, new battery and serviced. It has covered zero miles since 2020 and has been stored carefully. A great touring bike with low mileage, ready to use!

The Silver Wraith was the first post-war Rolls-Royce offered directly to the general public. Traditionally, their cars were offered as engine only/rolling chassis then delivered directly to a coach builder to receive the body of choice. They were larger than their sibling, the Bentley Mk. VI, and were equipped with independent front suspension and hydraulic shock absorbers, appealing to both owner-drivers and passengers alike.Originally delivered to Mr. Arthur Aman of Windlesham in Surrey by Brooklands of Bond Street in 1952, instructions included Silver Dawn headlamps and a wider, more imposing, bonnet. It was then absorbed as a company asset by Arthur Aman & Co. in 1954 followed by sale to Mr. Philip Rickards of Fulham, London in 1962. Mr. K. Hemmingway of Stanmore, Middlesex in 1965 became the last recorded owner on the enclosed period owners documentation. More recently, documents show that the car came from the US to a Mr. David Leppan of Phillimore Gardens, London who imported the car from Los Angeles to Felixstowe in 2010. All taxes and duties were paid at the time and part of the UK V5, and NOVA is enclosed. It was then sold to a noted German collector before finding its way back to the UK.Originally a black car with contrasting brown leather interior, it has since been painted in these two shades of a much more cheerful blue. New carpets have been installed, front and rear and, some time ago, a boot-mounted, air-conditioning system has been integrated into the superstructure and reported to be fully functioning. The aluminium exterior of the car is in excellent general condition with faults hard to find. The aluminium bumpers are also in excellent condition although the wing mirrors would benefit from some light attention along with the interior silvering of the offside headlamp. This imposing example has also just undertaken a mechanical overhaul alongside a major service and is reported to be running beautifully with a powerful, silent engine exhibiting good oil pressure and cool running at motorway speeds.A large diameter steering wheel allows for easy low-speed manoeuvring and new white wall tyres are fitted all round with chrome wheel centres recently purchased and fitted. The internal appointments are of equally good quality with period blue leather in good order throughout and just minor wear on the drivers bolster. There are walnut picnic tables, fold-out footrests, and foot-cushions for the rear occupants with door cappings and dashboard in excellent condition. Additional details include the original brass Pyrene fire-extinguisher, modern Alpine radio and a golden Spirit of Ecstasy.A very well-prepared and sporting Rolls-Royce, effortlessly able to keep up with modern traffic and with many miles ahead of her.

Auktion Royal House of Hannover 2005, Marienburg, Bd. 2, Nr. 224-229.VERY RARE TWO-HANDED PARADE SWORD, Brunswick, 1574 and 19th cent. The blade originates from one of the rare guard swords of Duke Julius, made in 1573 and 1574. Engraved Brunswick coat of arms, dating 1574 and number 134 visible on the blade. The numbering of the pieces is typical for these Brunswick swords. Although there are blades with higher numbers from as early as 1573, swords from the collection of the Royal House of Hanover and the Cleveland Museum show that the numbering apparently started all over again in 1574. Pommel, grip and cross-guard are possibly later additions. Vise marks and filing marks on the tang indicate the conversion. Length 188 cm.Customers outside the EU: Please organize the shipping and the preparation of export documents by a suitable forwarding agent on your own.

A SUPERB PALE CELADON JADE 'MAGNOLIA' VASE, 18TH CENTURYChina. Finely carved as a tall magnolia blossom, the layered petals forming the sides of the vase, borne on an openworked gnarled stem bearing smaller blossoms and buds. The superbly polished, translucent stone is of an almost flawless celadon tone with only few milky inclusions and russet veins. Provenance: The Ezekiel Collection, no. K/32 (old collector's label to one side). Purchased by Victor Ezekiel on 29 November 1957. A copy of a typed and handwritten note by Victor Ezekiel, stating the collection no. K/32 and purchase date of 29 November 1957 and describing the piece as “A pale jade vase, carved as a floral spray with large and small flowers, 5in., Ch'ien Lung, with a stand and case”, accompanies this lot. The Ezekiel Collection was formed by Marcus Ezekiel (1854-1927) and his son Victor (1905-1976), two leading figures in the formative years of Chinese art collecting in London in the 20th century, and important early members of the Oriental Ceramic Society. In 1975 Rose Kerr, then a young associate curator at the Victoria and Albert Museum, came to David Ezekiel, Victor's son, to select loans for the prestigious Oriental Ceramic Society exhibition "Chinese Jade Throughout the Ages”. David was, like his father, generous with loans to the Society's exhibitions, particularly “The World in monochromes” in 2009 (with his grandfather's legendary blanc de chine magnolia cup gracing the back cover of the catalog) and “China Without Dragons” in 2016.Condition: Superb condition, commensurate with age. He built a substantial collection, which later focused on African and Oceanic art, the largest part of which is in the Rautenstrauch-Joest Museum in Cologne today. Old collector's label 'm 4' to interior. See images for a painting by Klaus Clausmeyer which features the present lot in the front left. (2)The present figure can be identified as Bixia Yuanjun, also known as the Sovereign of the Clouds of Dawn or the Goddess of the Morning Clouds, by the representation of the three phoenixes in the headdress. The goddess was the daughter of the male god of Mount Tai, the easternmost of the Five Sacred Mountains in Shandong Province, where the Palace of the Clouds of Dawn, Bixia Gong, was built at the top of the mountain as her shrine during the Ming dynasty. Figures of Bixia Yuanjun are a personification of the yin force and made for use on Daoist altars.Literature comparison: See a larger bronze figure of Bixia Yuanjun dated to the 15th century in the Art Institute of Chicago, illustrated in S. Little and K. Schipper, Taoism and the Arts of China, California, 2000, p. 278, no. 95.
