Elegante legatura in marocchino oliva firmata al contropiatto anteriore dal legatore di origine austro-ungarica ma attivo a Londra Joseph Zaehnsdorf (1816-1886). Piatti in cornice dorata di filetti semplici e puntinati, elaborati angolari a motivo puntinato e intarsi in marocchino rosso. Dorsi a cinque nervi, con titolo impresso al secondo e terzo scomparto, i rimanenti riccamenti decorati in oro e con intarsi in marocchino. Labbri dei piatti decorati con filetti in oro, dentelles, Contropiatti e sguardie in seta color avorio, cofanetti cartonati rivestiti in carta marmorizzata. Esemplari n. 754 (volume I) e 185 (volume II), dei 700 della tiratura su papier Vélin de Rives. Al verso dei risguardi in seta anteriori di entrambi i volumi ex libris del celebre bibliofilo ferrarese Renzo Bonfiglioli (1904-1963).Bell'esemplare - in una preziosa legatura realizzata dal celebre legatore e collezionista Joseph Zaehnsdorf - di questa importante opera sulla storia della legatura, ancora oggi di utile consultazione e arricchita di numerose tavole a colori. Fine binding signed on the lower turn-in of the upper cover by the binder Joseph Zaehnsdorf (1816-1886), olive morocco over pasteboards. Covers within frames of simple and dotted fillets in gilt, fine cornerpieces with red morocco inlays. Spine with five raised bands, title in gilt lettering on the second and third compartment, the others richly gilt tooled with red morocco inlays; publication date in gilt at the foot. Inside dentelles, ivory silk pastedowns and flyleaves, marbled cardboard slipcases. Copies no. 754 (volume I) and no. 185 (volume II) of a limited edition of 700 copies printed on papier Vélin de Rives. Ex libris of the outstanding book collector Renzo Bonfiglioli (1904-1963) in both volumes, on the verso of the front flyleaves. Fine copy - with distinguished provenance - of this highly remarkable two-volume treatise on binding, offered here in a precious binding signed by the renowned binder Joseph Zaehnsdorf, who is also well known as a bibliographer and book collector. An impressive 18ct white and rose gold diamond set necklace, the total diamond weight estimated at 10ct, 67.6g. CONDITION REPORT: The diamond clarity ranges from SI1 to I2. Most of the stones are around J/K in colour. Some others are around M/N in colour. The stones are generally a bit cloudy, with not a great amount of radiance. Origin probably continental.
