Overall the support and paint layers are in a good, stable condition. In some of the darker paint passages the paint appears slightly matte and it is unclear if this is later overpaint or reworking by the artist. There is a thin varnish layer present and the surface is semi-matte. There are matte spots which appear white and opaque across the surface which appear to be related to degradation of the varnish.
