1996 Rover 216 Cabriolet - Brand new electric hood - Fully serviced October 2021- Odometer reading 45,500 miles from new- MOTd until 18th May 2022 (no advisories) Rovers introduction into the small family car market, the 200 offered affordable, practical motoring but struggled to compete with their German competitors at the time. The second generation range introduced their K-series engine that sported a 16-valve peppy twin-cam set-up that made for an engaging driving experience. Both coupe and cabriolet models were built in much smaller quantities compared with the saloons and were built on the same production line as the Honda Ballade allowing them to adopt similar levels of reliability. Despite the great qualities of the 216 Cabriolet it is often overshadowed by the Ford Escorts that seemed to dominate the era and only in recent years have begun to get recognition. Our Surrey-based client who purchased the car in October 2018 has since kept the car under cover in his garaging unit protecting the car from the elements. After little use in his first couple of years of ownership he decided to re-commission it to a high standard for road use having a full service including a timing belt change in May 2021 amounting to just over £1,000. Furthermore, that included a completely new exhaust system, new battery, front / back discs and pads, new rear brake callipers, water pump, oil change with new filters as well as two new tyres. Safe to say it had some TLC with paperwork and a glowing MOT certificate to back up this pamper treatment. Likely to be the best 200 Cabriolet on the market, P604 EOF offers a great summer cruiser that has had all the important work carried out on it.
